I just saw the 2008 remake and liked it. I liked the differences from the 1951 version but then that one is the classic. When Keanu Reeves got his hands on a suit and walked around like Agent Smith, I did have some justaposed memories from the Matrix but other than that I did like the newer movie.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I liked the original better. Short, but sweet. The remake was good, but the original used staging, rather than effects, to make you feel the impact. I tend to take staging over effects every time. The environmental message in the remake added well to the story, but in the end, I prefer the simplicity of the original. First contact is an important message too, as a commentary on us as a species.

Both of them were good movies and both had bluntly stated political messages which were set by the time period they were made in. But a remake is seldom as good as the original so had to go with the 1951 version.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?
