jedion357 April 12, 2012 - 11:32am | Name Growlon Loll, dralasite For me I envision the philosophical dralasite as being the statesbeing the forged the United Planetary Federation on the anvil of war while the sathar held the hammer. He had been the archetect of the Triad experiment when humans, vrusk and dralasites met each other- an effort to bring the three races together in one location so that they could gain greater understanding and appreciation for each other in the hopes that peaceful coexistence would prevail between them. The Triad experiment was a marginal success but a few hiccups in international relations (piracey in the space lanes, Free World Rebellion, aggressive first contact with the yazirians) spotlighted its weaknesses. He envisioned a federation even before the 1st Common Muster and worked for that very thing. The 1st Common Muster was not all that he wanted but became the test case for interplanetary relations. Its success and the advent of the sathar presented the opertunity he needed to push through an interplanetary confederation. In recognition of his efforts he was chosen as the first executive of the UPF government. [what that office is called is certainly up for debate though upon reflection I think the Council of Worlds probably is a legistlative body like our Congress or the British Parliment. The only UPF government official I remember seeing named was the governor of Volturnus who was assassinated (see Zebs timeline) and the incident led to everyone wearing see through clothing. So the cheif executive's title is also up in the air.] I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
rattraveller April 12, 2012 - 4:50pm | The merger of the four races into one government would be something Vrusk corporate executives would be used to dealing with. Although a Human led the war against the Sathar the Government would be more political and require a different skill set. Possibly a Human like Dwight Eisenhowser but see a more Churchhill type in this role. Dralasites could led but the early days of the UPF would need quick action and their tendency for long debate would hinder this. Of course later on as the threat abated Dralasites would be in the forefront of UPF law and decision making, forcing the other races to consider all angles of any issue brought up. Just not seeing a Yazirian in this role in the early years with the exception of an inter-clan leader. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
Karxan April 14, 2012 - 12:42pm | I see a Vrusk as the first UPF leader. The Vrusk are political , business minded beings. Also their ability to understand other beings and situations make them ideal as statesmen(statesbugs?). I think that Hi'Koi'Kal, who broke off from his hive business and started his own, would be a perfect selection for the office. His unusual and sometime unothodox ways set him apart from other vrusk. Not one to be molded by anyone, he set out to bring the Frontier as a whole together. |
Shadow Shack April 15, 2012 - 7:05pm | For the life of me I couldn't find it in the rulebooks (maybe it was in Zeb's), but I was looking for the name of the "famous Dralasite philosopher" that was cited as being the first COW leader. |

I remember that bit about the famous dralasite philosopher just not him being the COW leader now i have to look. For the life of me I couldn't find it in the rulebooks (maybe it was in Zeb's), but I was looking for the name of the "famous Dralasite philosopher" that was cited as being the first COW leader. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack May 18, 2012 - 11:16am | I should clarify this...he wasn't cited as the leader in the text (where ever that may be), that's just who I thought of in regards to this thread. I probably should have written that as For the life of me I couldn't find it in the rulebooks (maybe it was in Zeb's), but I was looking for the name of the "famous Dralasite philosopher" that was cited somewhere. He would probably have made a decent initial COW leader. |
Shadow Shack May 20, 2012 - 11:19pm | I found the source...it was in Zeb's Guide under the Ifshnit description page: Dorem Dasak, the famous Dralaste philosopher and historian, has named them "The race of the future, they who will inherit!" |
jedion357 June 15, 2012 - 4:06am | Dorem Dasak, the famous Dralaste philosopher and historian, has named them "The race of the future, they who will inherit!" WOW that is a seriously obscure reference to find! Kudos to Shadow Shack. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack June 26, 2012 - 4:53pm | I'm persitant like that. Once I get it in my mind, I can't get it out until I find it... Curious though, nobody's picked the Yaz yet. Well, I sort of did that in my campaign, a yaz dictator takes over the Frontier |
