I use a mix of house rules and SFman articles as well. Most notably the issue #9 "Skilled Frontier" ruleset. I'm also looking to use Cinematic Martial Arts. |
bossmoss November 25, 2012 - 5:32am | Depending on the gaming group, I use the Alpha Dawn / Knight Hawks rules or the original no-frills Alternity system. |
Malcadon November 25, 2012 - 7:26am | Do to the complexity and imitations of the AD/KH ruels, I have been using Mini-Six, by Anti-Paladin Games. Its basically a super-condensed version of Open D6, with about 6 or 8-pages of rules, and tons of examples, covering nearly every genre! |
samlangdon December 30, 2012 - 5:17pm | Now THIS is interesting. I first found this community on December 16 of this year (2012). When I first saw this Vote survey, I thought, who would do anything but AD. Now, after seeing Star Frontiersman, including the rules for skills there, I have had to change my vote. I am a mix Star Frontiersman, house rules, and AD. I still can't imagine who would vote for Zebulons, though some of the supporting material in that book was good. I do not know what cinematic Martial arts are, but I am intrigued. If it was covered in a star frontiersman, i have not got to that yet. These two yazarians and this vrusk walk into a bar... |

I still can't imagine who would vote for Zebulons Zeb's is like watching Pink Floyd: the Wall --- you need to ingest a serious amount of drugs before it starts making any sense. |
thespiritcoyote January 13, 2013 - 7:24am | Entry A, B, & C, have no distinction of importance to me... these would be covered under Entry 0 the Star Frontiers System as published. ...that noted, I picked entry D, as I sometimes incorporate elements of online materials, and support official Alternity updates as well. Otherwise, I find; the concept of edition wars, the promotion of illusory edition walls, and the support for edition purity, to be divisive and despicable behavior, no matter what game genre/system it occurs in. Ascent February 16, 2013 - 10:11pm | I've written alternate starfighter rules (revised at starfrontiers.info) and robot expanded rules, so obviously I'm open to any house rules the referee can make work without a lot of work, as long as it has an Alpha Dawn base. I'm allergic to anything related to Gamma Dawn, and Alternity makes me twitch. Zeb's has its moments, but I think a red flag might go up in my mind if I saw any of its mechanics or tech terms in my game. Hey friends,
I'm using a mix of articles form SFman. I'm hoping I get new players to try Cyberbionics and Cinematic Martial Arts. How about you? As long as the name "cyberbionics" never catches on, (It's like saying, "Chili con carne without meat",) I'm okay with the article's rules. I wrote a cybernetics article (that I abandoned on account of the infrequency of SFman, and never got around to cleaning up for the starfrontiers.info wiki,) that has its own set of cybernetics rules that ends up complementing those. Though, I tend to dispise the whole 'cybernetics cause mental instability' concept, so wouldn't use that, though I also provided a version in my article to appease those that think it necessary. Maybe I'll put it out sometime. I would try Cinematic Martial Arts, but no promises. Quick and dirty is what I'm about, so as long as it works on the fly and improves fun, I'm cool with it. I'm waiting for someone to do an original adventure that sounds like fun before I attempt a Star Frontiers game online. (The only option I have for play these days.) thespiritcoyote July 31, 2013 - 10:02am | I hate it when edits fail... >.< ...that noted, I picked entry D, as I sometimes incorporate elements of online materials, and support Starfrontiersman... (really who here doesn't?)... but E might workfor me as well, as I also use workable Alternity updates as well.
