Anonymous October 22, 2009 - 11:49am | *p00f* I had this idea a while ago and finally getting around to doing something about it! Below are some ideas for T-shirts. I don't know how many different T's we can have...depends on the setup costs (which I have not researched yet). I also plan on asking our awesome artist to help with some designs.
POSTED IDEAS FRONT: FRONT: I survived the Volturnus Expedition (needs a pic) BACK: I also mind linked with a Ul-Mor (pic of an ul-mor mind linking with a human?) BACK: (Star Frontiers Font) Join the Revival @ http://starfrontiers.us FRONT: Black shirt, sf.us header images vertically arranged BACK: (Star Frontiers Font) Join the Revival @ http://starfrontiers.us FRONT: Pic of Yaz wearing sungoggles "Top 11 reasons to be a Yazirian; #3We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our vision, but when you're cool like us the sun shines all the time. " In addition I would add most of SS post with slight modifications to the wording (make it family friendly). SS would be credited on the T-Shirt, OK? BACK: (Star Frontiers Font) Join the Revival @ http://starfrontiers.us with the addition of Imperial Lord's comment AND any other's we can fit on the shirt; Davorean Ledermin, "Elegant Eleven for Yazirians. Everyone else goes to ten, we're better because we go to eleven. Philosphy from the Spinal Tap clan" 11. We were here first. The rest of y'all migrated. Borlo Gorulo, "We all know that the Dralasites are the best - Humans are boring, Vrusk are too stiff, and Yazirians too Klingon-like." 1. Never have to figure out what to wear. 2. Can roll about in a ball (Very useful for hills!) 3. Blobbiness great for looking around corners. 4. Can be nicknamed "Flex" 5. Have names like "Borlo" and "Dorboru" - compare that with the Vrusk names! 6. Sniffing out liars 7. Can eat/drink with hands - or any other part. 8. Can identify people from their funk. 9. Strong and staminous 10. That awesome third leg. FRONT: 20 or so avatar's of our top members (50 if I do front and back) BACK:(Star Frontiers Font) Join the Revival @ http://starfrontiers.us FRONT: GJD's updated Knight Hawks cover form Issue 11 BACK: Some other image on the back with Join the Revival! (Rum Rogue in chat) FRONT: Some have wandered so far from the frontier they just cant find the way back. Let us help. JOIN THE REVIVAL ! BACK: I'm sure the back of the shirt should have more than Join the Revival. |
Shadow Shack October 22, 2009 - 4:41pm | I guess I'd better settle on an avatar then... |
Shadow Shack October 22, 2009 - 4:50pm | Swell...I went to change my avatar to something immediately recognizable andnow I have a faceless name. Can you upload this one? |
w00t (not verified) October 22, 2009 - 5:12pm | Dude... you didn't need to change you avatar. :-P Make some more suggestions. btw, I can't find your post; "Top 11 reasons to be a Yazirian" Maybe we should set a time to all jump into chat. What's our highest attendance? 11 or so peeps? |
Shadow Shack October 22, 2009 - 5:46pm | Well, the saber wouldn't be moving on the shirt...not quite the same effect LOL IIRC the "Top 11" was in one of the polls, "Fave SF Race" |
jedion357 October 22, 2009 - 9:16pm | This site's logo or header up above is a cool idea- maybe rearrange the images in it into a vertical format to fit a T shirt better. Use the images for the back of the shir and the SF logo for the front. shirt color: black reasons to be a Yaz works too. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
AZ_GAMER October 22, 2009 - 9:25pm | you could use cafepress.com, you just create an account, post the art (Shirt Design), set the price and we order what we want in quantity and color of shirt that we want. |
AZ_GAMER October 22, 2009 - 9:27pm | We purchase what we want, they make it, and ship it. |
Shadow Shack October 22, 2009 - 9:53pm | Except CafePress may have issues with using a copyrighted logo (the SF font). I had way too many problems with them for my motorcycle forum products, it was major tooth pulling to convince them that the model designation "VLX" is not just in use by the manufacturer who makes that bike (it's also a boat model and some piece of PC software among other things), not to mention the convincing it took to use the logo I had designed. I swear I spent more time with the legal mumbo jumbo than I did on dial up putting the shop together, designing the logo, polling forum members for slogans and pictures, etc etc etc... |
jedion357 October 23, 2009 - 5:23am | The legal crap may nix this; it could lead to official scrutiny by WOTC as well- as it is I think they mostly ignore us. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
w00t (not verified) October 23, 2009 - 8:26am | CafePress is an option along with other ideas I'm investigating. I might have them done locally and ship them myself. If we follow the same rules that WoTC told Bill (make no money on your products) we should be OK. Think about shirts your wife and kids would want as well. Would you guys pay more money for a shirt if the money was used to run a Star Frontiers Con east of the Mississippi? |
Ascent October 23, 2009 - 3:46pm | If more money is gained than the shirts are worth, then it is considered profit. Thus using it for a con would mean profit was made, and thus trademark infringed. VI: Return of the Jedi "That guy's wise." —Logray, Star Wars Ep.VI: Return of the Jedi Do You Wanna Date My Avatar? - Felicia Day (The Guild) |
w00t (not verified) October 23, 2009 - 5:40pm | Agreed. What I didn't say was; non-IP shirts = profit IP shirts = no profit Let's stop discussions on this point. I'll handle all the legal stuff. You guys just come up with ideas and let me know who is interested. If I'm the only one that wants T-shirts it's really a moot point. |
Imperial Lord October 24, 2009 - 10:40am | We should not make t-shirts about OURSELVES! We should make them about the game! I vote for a url on the back and a graphic from one of the covers of the boxes of books on the front. Or maybe that Alpha Dawn intro page with all of the Core Four walking forward with weapons. That's cool. |
jedion357 October 24, 2009 - 6:08pm | I'd buy a shirt- every geek that gets volturnus expedition hats made needs a T shirt to go with it. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack October 25, 2009 - 2:39am | I'd go for the "Top 11 Yaz" T... |
w00t (not verified) October 25, 2009 - 11:49am | Go Vote: |
w00t (not verified) October 25, 2009 - 7:30pm | I can't edit the poll; Yes - and I will pay a little more to fund a Star Frontiers Con in East Ohio. I won't make a dime but I realize that it's not fair for those who want shirts but won't attend the Con. Please don't vote for this. Sorry. |
Shadow Shack October 27, 2009 - 3:09am | 1. "See that tat on my arm? That's a Black Mandrill, we're feared throughout the Frontier!" Wow, it's been a while since I penned that...but I rolled when I saw this again. I'd just seen "Every Which Way But Loose" last week (RIP John Quade, whose character "Cholla" I swiped that quote from) "Do you know how many people died from Black Mandrill bites last year?" I'm sure the back of the shirt should have more than Join the Revival. |
umungus October 29, 2009 - 5:54pm | How about a Star Frontiersman shirt? At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
w00t (not verified) October 29, 2009 - 6:04pm | How about a Star Frontiersman shirt? What would the shirt look like? Front: Back: |
jedion357 October 29, 2009 - 8:06pm | What ever the shirt looks like I'd like to see a Star Frontiersman T shirt reference the zines website as advertising for it. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Ascent October 30, 2009 - 11:34pm | Good idea, jedion357. View my profile for a list of articles I have written, am writing, will write. "It's yo' mama!" —Wicket W. Warrick, Star Wars Ep. VI: Return of the Jedi "That guy's wise." —Logray, Star Wars Ep.VI: Return of the Jedi Do You Wanna Date My Avatar? - Felicia Day (The Guild) |
w00t (not verified) October 31, 2009 - 3:57pm | Can someone come up with some ideas for a Star Frontiersman shirt? I'll ask Bill as well - he might have something in mind. |
jedion357 November 3, 2009 - 9:39pm | How about "Star Frontiersman" in the zines cover font done small and over the left breast on the front then the image of the winning cover (from a as yet to be had poll voting for the best cover to date) done large on the back and the words above the image saying, "Join The Revival!" and on the bottom of the would be the web site adress. Shirt color any color you want as long as its black. simple idea, promotes zine and I'd wear it. to run the pole start a thread for people to nominate their favorite cover then compile and run a pole. if it sells do a new shirt each year with only that year's covers in the running. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Rum Rogue November 3, 2009 - 10:09pm | if it sells do a new shirt each year with only that year's covers in the running. Nice Would a montage of all covers from the year be tacky? I was thinking that the Star Frontiersman needs a mascot... just a small image in the corner or in the name of a futuristic looking individual. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. I constructively abuse my time. |
w00t (not verified) November 4, 2009 - 9:27am | Jedi/Rum, Great idea's! Let's run with it. Everyone can come up with a layout idea based on Jedi's suggestion and post a thumbnail in this thread. Use any SFman cover you want. I'll create a poll for 13 covers (Issue 13 is due out in 2 weeks). Here is a preview. |
Ascent November 4, 2009 - 12:18pm | I like that cover, but remove the text and magazine peripherals from the image, and put the Star Frontiersman logo just above it, but attached to the upper edge (that is, no space between the image and the logo and the logo would stretch from the left edge of the image to the right edge, large sized. VI: Return of the Jedi "That guy's wise." —Logray, Star Wars Ep.VI: Return of the Jedi Do You Wanna Date My Avatar? - Felicia Day (The Guild) |
umungus November 5, 2009 - 12:42pm | Awesome cover!! I am a big fan of Jim Burns!! At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
jedion357 November 7, 2009 - 5:57am | I was thinking that the Star Frontiersman needs a mascot... just a small image in the corner or in the name of a futuristic looking individual. I think the montage would would not be so good but just the cover image with the zine name stretched across the top and none of the zine cover stuff added would be best. done large on the back and the zine's name and the mascot done small on the front left breast. Maybe the mascot could be leaning on the zine's logo/name So what race for a mascot? Yaz, dral or vrusk? I like the vrusk but I think people identify with them the least. Yaz or dral would be readily identifiable but would someone object if over obvious IP of WOTC and cause the zine trouble? EDIT: So will I need a plug in or new soft ware to view the holo- corder version of issue 13? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
