jedion357 September 3, 2016 - 3:49pm | Did your group roll up ball bearings, a high fashion dress, vrusk art work? Suggest a new item to find on the Serena Dawn. Doesn't have to be in the cargo hold. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 September 3, 2016 - 4:01pm | http://www.shocknife.com The shock knife is a training item that doesnt cut and the shock effect is stepped down 7,500 volts. Not even good as a stun stick. Cargo container: case of New in box SEU clips not included. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
JCab747 September 3, 2016 - 4:11pm | You could try some children's size desert survival suits. A ping pong table and extra paddles. A Vrusk snow skiing suit. Mesh net bags for the bowling with Dralasites game. A screed by David Dever and Cuitriss Manbela on the ideals of the Kraatar Liberation Corps in a human crew member's cabin. A caged chukkah from the Inner Reach. The booklet on the care and feeding of Sapes. Travel pamplets about touring the planets Laco, Janus and Kraatar. Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 September 3, 2016 - 4:23pm | An autographed copy of "My Life Among the Stars: The Autobiography of Alorne Zebulon." A 233-TRB Trauma Recovery Robot (from Star Frontiersman magazine) A toy warbot. A box of poker chips. Several certificates for all-you-can-eat dinners at the Spacer's Club on Clarion Station. A lifetime pass to Star Play World (pick a planet for the location of this amusement park). Designer sun goggles for a Yazarian worth 600 Credits. Joe Cabadas |
rattraveller September 3, 2016 - 5:30pm | Self sealing stim bolts VR goggles with X-belt attachments Pokeballs (to catch the Pirates with) Packages of self heating chicharrones (comes in variety packs for Dralasite, Human, Vrusk and Yazirian) A crate containing Oran Ju's Skiball trohies sold at auction and being shipped to the winner Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
jedion357 September 3, 2016 - 6:15pm | The shock knife is a training item that doesnt cut and the shock effect is stepped down 7,500 volts. Not even good as a stun stick. Cargo container: case of New in box SEU clips not included. A tech PC may modify the shock knife to have a real cutting blade (skill check ) Tech PC may further modify the shock knife to be a fully functional stun stick (2nd skill check @ -15 difficulty penalty) If either skill check is a fail then item ruined. Luckily they have a whole case. (Case quantity? 10, 12, 20?) If knife has a cutting blade and stun stick then treat as stun stick that does 1d10 melee damage in addition to stun feature. However, because the blade is entering an enemy's body and their are fluids the wielder must make a RS save on every hit or also suffer stun effect (he gets the same defenses and saves vs stun stick as the target). Due to makeshift nature of mods: On a critical failure wielder receives stun effect and item breaks On critical success: all SEU discharged at once: 1SEU for stun and rest of the SEUs as electrical damage. Note the wielder still must make the RS save or share in the discharge 1/2 of electrical damage. (1d10 electrical damage / SEU). Item is useless after electrical discharge as blade is ruined. PCs will not be able to modify the shock knife while dodging and fighting pirates on the Serena Dawn. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 September 3, 2016 - 6:19pm | Plus 1 for self sealing stem bolts Plus 1 on the certificates for all you can eat dinners I'd put the dinner certificates in the crew's quarters. I like the vrusk ski suit- stuffed with appropriate materials it could make a "dummy" for the encounter with the quickdeath at the end of the module. Though why would anyone want to lug it that far? Second thought on vrusk ski suit-, the container holds skies, poles, sun goggles, and a body camera (like a go pro camera). Poles could be used as a night stick melee weapon. On critical failure pole is bent and unserviceable as a weapon. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 September 3, 2016 - 6:30pm | Vibro knife blades, not the knives just the blades: blade can be used as saw if a field expedient handle is fashioned. Appropriate skill does this with no check: tech skill or environmental subskill make tools. Pickled ooal fruit in flexible plasti-glass envelopes. Ooal fruit is a dralasite delicacy but pickled ooal fruit is just nasty, not even dralasites like it. However, one package of ooal fruit can substitute for a days rations if the character can stomach it STA check to keep it down. The reason one package subs for a days rations is not so much for nutritional value as for the fact that it moves through the digestive tract like tar and we don't even want to discus elimination. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 September 3, 2016 - 6:44pm | 1 case of Black's brand Blood Flavored yazirian chewing gum. Guaranteed to not stick to fur. For when you want your breathe to be "bloody fresh". True Yazirians only chew Black's brand because its made with only organic blood. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack September 3, 2016 - 9:00pm | The collapsible hover cycle from the Villains of Volturnus choose-your-own-adventure book. Which will become quite useful when evading quickdeaths during foolish Ul-Mor rituals...on a more serious note I would probably spec such a vehicle to have considerably lower speeds than their full sized solid counterparts. |
iggy September 4, 2016 - 8:22am | A box of eye patches and tricorne hats. -iggy |
JCab747 September 4, 2016 - 9:37am | Several class 1 maintenance robots with vacuum attachments. An atlas of Exodus in the Pan Gal system. The movie "How to Tame Your Lossend Dragon." An antique sword. A clown wig, red nose and big shoes (for humans, of course). Dralasite sun tanning lotion -- to obtain that perfect tan in a desert. A surf board. A glijet, minus its fuel packs and engine. A kayak with paddle. An inflatable raft. Arctic survival gear and snow shoes. Several Truane's Star climbing belts (from a Frontier Explorer magazine, I believe). Joe Cabadas |
jedion357 September 4, 2016 - 2:40pm | A clown wig, red nose and big shoes (for humans, of course). . Who says they're for human? You obviously missed the Wriggling Brothers Circus last time it was in Port Loren! Dralasites love this outfit. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 September 4, 2016 - 2:45pm | A holo disk of the Omega Omega Top concert on the promenade at Clarion Station. A beat up set of dumra (yazirian drums) the neck/shoulder strap has been replaced with a rifle sling. Case of tetrarch artifacts: disks, rods and what may have been tuning forks I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
ChrisDonovan September 4, 2016 - 5:03pm | Something everyone is overlooking: the rest of their expedition gear. Not their personal gear, but things like envirotents, extra rations, a recording computer, lab equipment, etc. |
iggy September 4, 2016 - 5:39pm | Something everyone is overlooking: the rest of their expedition gear. Not their personal gear, but things like envirotents, extra rations, a recording computer, lab equipment, etc. All in an environmentally sealed box with keyed access code that has not yet been given to the PCs. Yes, I was throwing out useless junk ideas to frustrate the players. Although the all-you-can-eat coupons for the Spacers Club would be sadistic when their characters are struggling for food in the desert Joe Cabadas |
jedion357 September 5, 2016 - 6:04am | Not everything was useless junk. I looked at the internal cargo hold on the Serena Dawn as separate from external cargo modules which would have held prefab buildings, vehicles and expedition equipment. However, in the vein of more useless junk: a file computer (Zebs) with a copy of "The Metaphysical Foundations of Dralasite Morality" by Grod who just happened to have been a member of the First Volturnus Survey Expedition. And while we're mining the PC background report from Crash on Volturnus how about another file computer with a Vrusk Atlas Manufacturing Corporation (trade house really but that's how they translated the company name into Pan Gal) Atlas of Laco. Or it's the file computer of a VAMC exec who disappeared and its raw maps that don't match any know world in the Frontier. VAMC will treat the possession of this file computer by the PCs as stolen property and view the PCs as perpetrators of corporate espionage should they find out the PCs possess it. It is in essence a treasure map for later use should the PCs survive Volturnus. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

Shadow Shack September 5, 2016 - 8:23am | IIRC the collapsible hovercycle used by the VoV kid and his vrusk mentor was stowed in an escape pod so it can't take up much space either. |
JCab747 September 5, 2016 - 9:10am | I looked at the internal cargo hold on the Serena Dawn as separate from external cargo modules which would have held prefab buildings, vehicles and expedition equipment.
Maybe have a holographic cube with information on various resort destinations. It could be used to wow the natives such as the Ul-Mor. In the vein of the Villians of Volturnus, you can always throw in a few Boxils. Several body comps in their original packaging. Or essential equipment such as a big hair dryer... Joe Cabadas |
ChrisDonovan September 5, 2016 - 9:22am | ^Perfect trade goods should you ever run into a Druish princess... *evil* |
jedion357 September 5, 2016 - 9:30am | A holo cube with holos of resort destinations is a great idea kind of reminds me of Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome when the kids were telling their history to Max with the view finder. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
JCab747 September 5, 2016 - 9:40am | The hair dryer could be a useful gift to the chief of the Kurabanda. Joe Cabadas |
jedion357 September 5, 2016 - 11:19am | I just counted, there are 7 useful items including the character's military skien suits and their non weapon equipment listed as separate entries on the table and these can only be found once which is the same for the ship's doctor's spare med kit. Other useful items are 10 laser rifle clips, 12 days of food, crate of hand axes (which may have been intended as trade goods) and a chronocom There are 13 entries of useless junk/ potential trade goods. The chocolate anchovies were probably strickly junk. One player loaded up on ball bearing with me and then spent the rest of the adventure looking for ways to use them as shrapnel in an IED. so here is my thought: create an alternate cargo table comperable to the original. a referee might use the new one or not. The folding cycles are quite outside the level of equipment from the original table but I do like the idea of them as collapsible expedition equipment I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
ChrisDonovan September 5, 2016 - 11:57am | ^Did a sling never occur to your player? |

JCab747 September 5, 2016 - 1:22pm | A holo cube with holos of resort destinations is a great idea kind of reminds me of Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome when the kids were telling their history to Max with the view finder. That's a good analogy. I was actually thinking of one of the very first Star Wars novels featuring Han Solo and Chewbacca. It started them off on a desert planet where they were passing the time showing an old holo movie to the natives featuring underwater scenes. The natives got restless when they switched to a more modern film. Apparently they were facinated by the water scenes and were outraged that they couldn't see it any more. It might have been the book Han Solo's Revenge by Brian Daley. Joe Cabadas |
JCab747 September 6, 2016 - 8:29am | Luxury Dralasite mood dyes from the Inner Reach (Dramune). Joe Cabadas |
jedion357 September 6, 2016 - 3:35pm | 45 years ago the original scroll "Run Amok Time" written by the great yazirian warrior poet Moko Blade Dancer was stolen. It's a pre Exodus artifact made from the skinned and tanned wing flaps of his enemies. It's quite priceless. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
JCab747 September 6, 2016 - 3:39pm | They could find a Vimh as a stowaway and like any rat, he/she wants to leave a sinking ship. Joe Cabadas |
