Lab Rats

Been watching alot of old horror movies lately and noticed something. In many of the movies something bad happens and starts with laboratory animals. Rats, Guinea Pigs, Dogs, Monkeys and other lesser known critters all play a big part in real and movie experiments.

So what do the Core Four use as laboratory animals? There has always been some speculation the Vimh were used this way but would they have worked for the Vrusk and the Dralasites? Is there a critter that could be used with all Core Four since they are supposed to eat the same food and use the same medical supplies what would they test them on? Or is there a whole slew of critters that tests are run on?

Any comments or examples would be appreciated.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Are we talking SyFY channel movies or actual horror flicks?

FWIW why restrict it to animals, re: Little Shop of Horrors (1960's flick w/Jack Nicholson, not the SyFy grade remake from the 80s)
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

I'd say pick something small of the rather extensive Volturnus catalog of creatures. army rats or the baboons, or the burrowing creature (forget the name).

In addition you could mine the list from Sundown on Star mist of 10 harmless Frontier creatures that the sathar were developing harmful versions of. Not the sathar remakes but the original harmless common to the frontier creature.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

1) Mostly typing in 80s Sci Fi movies on Youtube to get the SF vibe of things.

2) The Original was the play which is always better than the movies. The Roger Corman (love that guy) Jack Nicholson version was good but the Rick Moranis/Ellen Greene 1986 version with the music and the Steve Martin/Bill Murray dentist scene is the tops.

3) The idea of the lab animal is that something goes wrong and it turns into something very bad. Could be like GNAW Food of the Gods II or Outbreak or 28 Days Later or any number of these type. Would probably go with a base animal and then Gamma Dawn it.

4) Sathar creatures tend to be aggressive to start and then get worse. These would be gentle animals which get much worse.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

I must have been thinking of another 60s to 80s remake, having googled the 80s version of LSoH I realize now that I have not seen that one yet. Anyways, the point stands that you don't have to limit yourself to lab animals gone wrong when you can have a Venus Fly Trap variant plant (or any other type of plant) that goes wrong.
