ChrisDonovan November 30, 2015 - 4:08am | Put together another compilation from stuff I scaveneged on-line. This time the uniforms of the UPF Spacefleet. I assume Landfleet uses the same design, only in green and black or maybe brown and black. All image rights belong to the original designers and modelers of course. |
jedion357 November 30, 2015 - 4:52am | Nice, like the dress uniform. And would prefer green and black color scheme for Land Fleet. What are your source(s) for this? Would we be able to co-opt it for the magazine? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
ChrisDonovan November 30, 2015 - 11:23am | No, you wouldn't be able to use it for the magazine, unfortunately. The images are all from concept art for either Mass Effect or Halo. Sorry. |
jedion357 November 30, 2015 - 12:00pm | Alright, so looking at the ship suit above its got a colar of some sort and it got me thinking about what we ts purpose might be? Perhaps the space Fleet ship suit doubles as an emergency vacuum suit that if you were caught in an emergency situation it would provide you with 30 mins of survival in vacuum providing you passed a RS check to get the mask on. Bad RS roll means you only have 20 mins of time (note a KHs game turn is 10 mins.). I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
ChrisDonovan November 30, 2015 - 12:10pm | That is what I had in mind, yes. When in port or serving "dirtside", the crew would wear the fabric uniforms. Shipboard, they would wear the shipsuit, needing only to grab a helmet (which are stored all over the place in lockers, at duty stations, etc) to make it into an emergency pressure suit. The puncture-resistent construction of the shipsuit would also give the protection equivalent to a skeinsuit. |
Shadow Shack November 30, 2015 - 3:13pm | They need red trim instead of black, just like the spaceships rendered on the various SF/KH covers have. |
rattraveller December 2, 2015 - 4:25pm | Why do only officers get long sleeves? Then again with those sewn into the pants sleeves might be better to have cold arms. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
ChrisDonovan December 2, 2015 - 9:57pm | Because that's the way the designer designed them? Ok, that's a cop out. I chose to interpret that as representing "work fatigues" as opposed to the officer's uniform. The officers don't need the cargo pockets, etc, so they tend to wear the dressier equivalent of Class As. Certainly officers could wear the work fatigues as well if they chose, and probably some do (I know in the ME universe some do, and in the real Navy they do as well). Or you could say that the sleeves on the Class Bs are simply rolled up. Either way works for me. |
Tchklinxa December 3, 2015 - 10:46am | I have vissions of Vrusk Stormtroopers. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
rattraveller December 3, 2015 - 3:29pm | Actually if you look at movies and paintings from the days of yore, more specifically the Age of Sail British Royal Navy you see the officers in long woolen coats and full regalia while the crew is running around without shoes on. Was that the look you were going for? Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
ChrisDonovan December 3, 2015 - 3:55pm | I'm limited to the art I can find, since I can't draw worth crap. I would assume that there are species- adapted versions. By the way, new find. Behold Star Law: or (maybe) this one: The second in some ways fits better with everything else, but that first one is just gorgeous! All credits to the original artists as usual. |
Tchklinxa December 3, 2015 - 7:15pm | Both nice. The helmet is the big difference & color scheme. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
ChrisDonovan December 3, 2015 - 11:14pm | I hadn't even noticed the colors so much as the helmet differences. |
Shadow Shack December 4, 2015 - 12:20am | I have vissions of Vrusk Stormtroopers. I whipped one up on Hero Machine... |
Tchklinxa December 4, 2015 - 5:46am | Wow nice, so imagine an army of Vrusk all in that! The UPF military could be properly scary. I think Dralasites would like reflective materials that stretch, fields & the like as parts of their uniforms. "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
