Is the spammer a lurker? Or did my Guest book just get hit a few hours after my comment in this thread by chance? Three different log ins but the same sort of content? Hhhmmm, think we just learned something about this turkey. And here I thought he was just some weasel sitting at a computer screen in China with really poor command of English. The spam content would seem to indicate a high likelihood that the spam is coming from the same source. One also has to wonder just how much revenue their little spam campaign is generating from this site; I don't that its much, if any. So if time is money and they've made a campaign of spamming here for quite a long time then one has to wonder why? If it isn't the money then what? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

June 6, 2012 - 8:11pm | Actually, as far as I can tell the guest book hits are not from logins but from anonymous entries. There were about 30 htis from the same IP on random accounts, some active members and some I've never heard of. They all got hit twice. There are some other duplicates hits, mostly on the same accounts back on May 27 from a completely different IP (almost completely different, the first number if the four number IP is the same). It actually looks like some sort of spambot but it's not hitting everyone. We might consider altering the captcha settings if possible to something a little more robust. The current captchas are pretty clear and easy for a computer to decipher. Ad Astra Per Ardua! July 25, 2012 - 12:31pm | I dont know about in the Star Frontiers universe, but I'm pretty sure that in the Star Trek universe since they have solved problens like poverty and done away with silly things like money then they must have also solved real issues like spam in your in box.
