Well my daughter came through her surgery and the plastic surgeon and the collaborating surgeon are very happy with results. She's 10 and this is her 7th surgery. I spent time talking with a mother who flew out from Utah to Boston so her one year old could have her 15th surgery so I guess my family is doing just fine. If you are the praying sort say a prayer for Audry, I told her mother I would do so and she was very appreciative. Any kid thats averaging one surgery per month could use the prayer.

Wow, I hate hospitals more than I hate needles...probably because the first thing they do at a hospital is stick a "permanent" needle into you. I can't imagine having to go through that on a regular basis.

Hopefully this is the last time for both gals.

Actually, Audrey's mother was briefing her husband in my presence and it sounds like that this operation didnt solve the problem but gave the doctors the information to solve the problem so I've been praying for the doctors have wisdom and invoking the name of God as the great physician to guide the doctors in her case. Truth shadow after they stick you with a needle to start the IV they pull the needle and leave a teflon sheath in the vein. Its not so bad really unless you're getting IV antibiotics that are so strong they burn like fire. So if you dont like needles never let an infection fester- take care of youself. Also never let an intern xray your broken nose and tell you its not broken because the xray wont show breaks in cartildge.

We just got the air tube out and could go home in a day or two. But I'm on slow time. Feels like its been two or three hours so i check email and the forums and its only been an hour. Been playing Barbie videos and that only enhances the slow time for me but then I'm not the one in a hospital bed- so I'm latching on to every ditraction I can find chaplin comes by and prays a "King James" prayer which is more about sounding holy than realy praying yeah bring it. Social worker comes by to chat yeah sure. I'll gladly talk to anyone at this point. I go to the lobby to buy coffee and a sandwitch just to have someone tell me, "$4.26"

I havent run into Audry's Mom since, I think it was just one of those chance encounters that God lets you have. Rachel's out of ICU and can go home once she 's eating again and walking around. The only thing is that she's just not in the mood to be active or eat and I cant blame her. The surgeans made cuts on all the bones of her mid face so that they could move and implanted steal tusks into those bones that come out through the mouth and curve up by the nose then attach to a halo like device by 28 gauge wire so that we can crank the tension on the tusks and move her mid face bones forward. I'm sure if it was me I'd not be interested in talking or eating. None the less Rachel's tough, party because i began programing her at age one telling her she's a tough little girl so that at times like this it would be part of her core belief about herself. I am observing some problems in the 6 year old being upset that Rachel saw a barbie DVD that she didnt get to see as well as some other jealousy. I'll need to think on this awhile and write a program in my head for handling this situation because the 6 yr old mind wont handle a lot of abstract thinking so a sit down and talk wont solve the unfairness Becca is bothered by. (I'm open to suggestions, creative or otherwise).

re: jealousy...has the six year old seen Rachel in the ICU with the halo and all the pain etc she's dealing with? If not that might put things in perspective.

Jedion, Shadow is on to something. When I had a major wound on my rear(Don't Ask) I had to let it heal from the inside out. My kids were 8,7, and 3. They did not understand why dad could not wrestle with them and why they could not jump on me whenever they wanted to. So, they got to see the open wound in all of its ugliness. I kept the rest of the ugliness covered, wouldn't want to really scare them.Foot in mouth But it did work. They comprehended the situation better and no emotional scares that I have seen so far. They are 20, 19, and 15 now. Kids are smarter than we give them sometimes. I know we try and protect them from the worst this world does, but sometimes they need to be shown some reality to prepare them for what may come. You know your 6 year old and so think about it and see.

I like how you built up Rachel. My 15 year old Kaytlyn is very tough. I had not realize that all the time I kept telling her should could take her brother, she took it seriously. Of course it doesn't help him when I wouldn't let him really get her back, being the older brother. Oh well, no one is perfect.
