TerlObar April 18, 2012 - 9:43am | How do we want to handle picking up new players into the alliance or do we? Ad Astra Per Ardua! TerlObar April 18, 2012 - 9:48am | Case in point. I happened to be monitoring general chat this morning and a new guy popped up and said he was looking for advice. The usual suspects on GC were having an extended discussion about living in Korea and while one person said hi to him the converstation just flew on past. I PM'd him with a couple pointers and he responded thanking me for the tips and said he might like to join our alliance if we would have him. So how do we vet new players or are we going to be closed to SF related people? I'm fine either way but was wondering what ideas the others had. Ad Astra Per Ardua! iggy April 18, 2012 - 9:42pm | I have puzzled on that too. We will want some numbers to increase our clout, awe, respectability, etc. but we want to make sure that our members are on the level and will work with us. As for if they join SF.US and use this project that probably shouldn't be required. But if it does get someone to take up SF then great. -iggy |
jedion357 April 19, 2012 - 6:43am | I'd simply tell them who we are and that we come at the game from this site and fan activity. Its not required that new members are fans of SF but like most alliances use a Facebook group page to communicate we simply use this site. You have to have a Facebook log in to be in those groups so it shouldn't be a problem to join here and request membership in this group. In fact the front page of this project should specify joining requirements and layout details. So that when we copy the link new people have plenty of instruction on that page. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
iggy April 19, 2012 - 9:40pm | OK, I write up something for the front page on joining requirements. If someone has something in mind I'll copy-paste it. -iggy |
jedion357 April 21, 2012 - 7:16pm | Iggy something like this: Hello, Thank you for your interest in the Star Frontiers fan alliance on Conquest, Resurg Within. You have found this page either on your own or have been refered here after joining the alliance in game. To participate you must be first a member of Gollwin Academy in the Conquest Game (requires a Facebook login) and then apply for acceptance to this project (requires a starfrontiers.us login). Why have the alliance's communication page here instead of on Facebook? Party because the founders of this alliance came to Conquest as fans of Star Frontiers and partly because the projects here have a lot of functionality. It is not required that you be a fan of Star Frontiers and can ignore the bulk of the chatter on this site (use mark as read button). However, if you are a fan of science fiction you may find that this site has a lot to offer even if you're not the gung ho fan of Star Frontiers that some of us are. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
