What is the stylish Yazirian wearing about town?

Previously, I think I had heard of yazirians wearing a toga. it makes sense with their pataguim; wrap a sheet about you and its easy to toss way for flight.

I suspect a diaper like loin clothe was used since ancient times, drawn up between the legs and pinned at the waiste. A belt can be passed through the pataguim. It allows for tools and weapons to be carried though I suspect that if cross belts were attached, one over each shoulder, then it would have worked like a combat harness to affix weapons more securely for flight.

Ponchos- make a lot of sense

vests as well.

pants make no sense at all; chaps do however.

Edited this post as I was cleaning up my photobucket album and because I move all the pictures around it broke the links

Here's some recent yazirian art, some of it exploring clothing styles thought the trench coat is not about exploring yazirian clothing its an attempt to do an illustration that doesn't seem to be coming form the promised source.

Here's an inked test picture- the glasses are not symetrical and his body looks too beefy for the head IMO

Here's a yaz throwing a zamra (still needs a brush inking) simple loin clothe & belt

Something like surcoats, like knights used to wear.  Hangs on the shoulders, open all the way up to the shoulders on the sides (to allow for the pataguim), held in place by belts (at least one around the waist and then crossed belts across the chest if desired), probably slit in the front and back at the bottom (to somewhere about mid thigh) to allow easier movement while walking or running.

You can think of human clothing with long slits or open on the sides.
Yazirians do not like their limbs hindered by tight clothing that inhibits pataguim movement.
Yazirian explorers are a bit different, they typically wear clothes that pin the pataguim to the sides.

Actually I think they might go in for something like chaps that strap onto the arms, legs, and torso passing straps through the openings in the pataquim.

A yazirian tabard- similar to ancient human tabards. Developed as a hunter's garment but latter adapted as a clan war uniform. Some had padding for the chest and upper arms to reduce kinetic damage

A lot of the yaz I see in the modules have their pataguim wrapped close to their bodies.

Whatever did yazirians do before the advent of sungoggles? I think that their Native Yazira didn't require the use of sungoggles but having come to the Frontier the use of sungoggles has suddenly become SOP. The benefit of a good pair of goggles is that if you go gliding they stay put.

I know that on earth the primitive low tech "sun goggle" that was used to prevent snow blindness was a piece of leather with a slit in it tied over the eyes like goggles. I was just considering what low tech answers would yazirians have for their eyes Sensitivity to bright sunlight.

Obviously, sleeping during the day and being active at night works and has a benefit that many animals like to come out at night so hunting is good.

Hats with brims? base ball hat? Almost think that the baseball hat ought to be a strickly human piece of culture- it can make inroads with yazirians in modern times but was not developed among them pre-contact with humans. Though I see it being an item they would appreciate.

So wide brim hat of some sort that shades the face? Anyone want to suggest something?

or possibly a short brim hat with a short detachable veil?

Some sort of gauzy material that blocks light but still allows you to see through it might work as well.

Combing the mane forward to cover the eyes is a natural practice.  Then later weaving bone, feathers, and beads into the mane to shield from the sun.  But I would say that the native Yazirian sun was not as bright as most stars.  Ancient yazirians were nocturnal.  And yazirians favor forested environments were the light is dimmed.

I think looking at what might cause an evolution of light sensitivity in a species is a good line of thought.

I think the forest dwelling and nocturnal living are the two best choices. I am sure their native planet would have had some type of unforested areas, but maybe it is a heavily forested planet so the opportunities to go out into the sunlit open were not neccesary. Originally, sunblocking gear could have been seen as eccentric possibly. Those yazirians who chose to live more by day or hunted and lived away from the forest, at least in ancient days. As time went on and they started to develop an industry they had to change some ways of living, and looked back at what those eccentrics had done and followed along.

Masks would have been an ancient way to protect the eyes too. I have seen some tribes that have masks made of beads and feathers. In fact, in game you could have some ancient yazirian masks for some of their ancient traditional ceremonies.

Nocturnal and arboreal make for light sensitive eyes but also if their native star was dimmer that most it adds another layer to the reasoning.
