the Corporate Compact and Hive Law

After looking at the differences in common law and civil law i was thinking about how that sort of thing would play out in the Frontier. While modern vrusk law is based on the first corporate compact there are legacies of hive law that never totally vanished in vrusk society. After all some of what the vrusk were familiar with would have persisted even as they developed a new social contract.

Did the Hives really have a "law"?  It seemed to me that the Hives were pretty much at the whim of the elites, with the vast numbers of drone-slaves subject to summary justice (mostly death.)  Additionally, the Vrusk instinct for "staying in one's place" (identity) made them obey almost like ants for centuries.

Maybe a law code for how the elites dealt with each other?  That could be the Hive legal legacy...

But I prefer the revolutionary approach of the Vrusk completely wiping out the Hive system and starting anew - the rise of the Corporations.  In fact, in those circumstances the Vrusk might AVOID laws as being "too Hive".  That is to say, they stay away from whatever Hive laws there may have been simply to say that they are doing something different.

To a certain degree corporations resemble a hive. They are pyramidal in shape and organize a workforce with those at the pinnacle of the pyramid enjoying greater benefits. I don't see the end of the hive system and transition to the business model as quite so radical a change. The big change is that under the hive you were born a virtual slave and had no free will. With the collapse of the hive system you had emerging voluntary "hives" or trade houses which focused on a narrow field of production doing it well and trading goods and services with other voluntary hives. Free choice is the new element and that is what was revolutionary. Perhaps its some odd perks that persist from the hive system that CEOs enjoy. At this point I don't have anything specific.
