There love of beauty makes them unable to get into fist fights that do not involve their company. However, vrusk that are defending their company will do anything to remove the threat permanently. We've talked about everything else: sex and reproduction, pacifism, diet etc but this one thing about a propensity to collect art and a love of beauty has not been discussed. Here's what I noticed in the above statements- "Vrusk also love beauty, harmony and order" this statement implies all vrusk its inclusive. This statement should be considered base line for all vrusk with the caveat that there could be aberant individuals to contradict this but they are extremely few. "The goal of most vrusk is to become wealthy, collect art and live in peace." This statement does not include all vrusk just most. Again its a baseline statement but allows for some differentiation. Here's what I've been thinking: Under the hive system most rank and file vrusk were essentially drones who worked and labored while the pairs of Queens and Generals at the top enjoyed the benefits. The upper eschelon vrusk enjoyed art and beauty but it was the lot of the drone to labor for the beauty. I suspect that the upper eschelon of vrusk society employed the work force in public works like projects like the pyramids and other monuments in Egypt. The drones simply laboured until death. By and large under the hive system, the drone, largely through diet, had little more LOG score then a really smart chimpanze or dolphin. But once the hive system imploded and the trade house association model began to rise drones actually became more productive through exposure to better diet. As their LOG score rose and their lot generally improved under the corporate model drone workers began to aspire for some of the same things the upper eschelon vrusk had been taking as their birth right. Thus the desire for art and beauty kicked in for them, which had been their in their genes but through poor diet and oppressive labor they could never express it under the hive system. Collecting and keeping art is an expression of self worth. They've earned the money and it represents their company's belief in them to have shared profit with the vrusk individual so they take pride in their collection. If a planet has a data net auction site you can bet that every vrusk on that planet has a login membership for them. Nearly all vrusk collect something- its almost a genetic urge. This collection could be trading cards from the Port Royal baseball team on Clarion but the vrusk will need to collect all team members in the team's history. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
