Will the Stampede November 28, 2010 - 11:58am | So, what are the side effects of using the computer receptor implant? I mean, hacking attempt against the computer the implant is linked to affect the character? How does damage to or destruction of the computer in question affect the implanted character? Just curious.... " 'Beware the Beast, Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Alone among God's primates, he kills for sport, for lust, for greed. Yea, he will murder his brother to possess his brother's land. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death." |
w00t (not verified) November 28, 2010 - 11:14pm | David Cook made this gear, fyi. I wonder what he would think? :-) It does say transmit and receive but I believe its for communication purposes only. The wearer is simply giving commands via thought and receiving feedback or possibly querying information. The data could be corrupted, making the data incomprehensible to the character. Or a hacker could send erroneous data. In either case perhaps an "input storm" would cause a character to make a INT check or be at -20 for all actions due to the inputs distraction. He would need at least a turn to deactivate the implant (can you do that?) Damaging the computer simple severs the link. Does all this sound plausible? |
Will the Stampede November 29, 2010 - 2:52pm | Perfectly plausible. Deactivating the implant should be as easy as thinking it off. " 'Beware the Beast, Man, for he is the Devil's pawn. Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death." |
