AZ_GAMER July 14, 2010 - 6:14pm | 1. Teleportation In The Frontier (Article): Completed. Awaiting publication in the Frontiersman 2. "Its Good To Be Bad" Villany Resources For Playing The Bad Guy In SF (Article): On Hold. 3. Frontiespace Core Setting Artwork (Art): In Progress. Working on several pieces of hand drawn line art for the FS Core Book. This is time consuming so I have no realistic time frame for completion. 4. Frontierspace: Dark Tempest Setting (Game Setting): On Hold. Awaiting the completion of FS Core Game so I can reference game mechanics into the setting. Most of the ground work is done and just needs to be assembled. 5. Frontierspace Dark Tempest: Haven (Comic): Abandoned. Comic book storyline from the DT setting. Abadonned due to lack of interest from community. Sorry I can't afford to invest the time and money on this with the luke warm reception it got. Story, characters and art will be recycled into the DT setting book. 6. Frontierspace Dark Tempest Timeline (Article): Rough Draft Completed. Available in my Frontierspace project on this site. 7. Titan Rising: Project Hyperion (Comic): Possible Reboot for 2013: This ambitious 10 episode prequel chronicling the first mission of the Starship Hyperion ran aground on the third Episode. A re-boot and re-write of this series is currently in negotiations for 2013. 8. Titan Rising: Prometheus Dawn (Comic): On Hold. A first Episode of this original series which was started in 2007 actually saw the light of day and got a lot of critical praise as a good first attempt. A digitally enhanced version became available in 2009. A minor redeux may occur in the next year to catch this project up with the rest of the TR Universe. Any changes that will occur will be minor and the script and most of the original art will be preserved. There were so many things I did right the first time in this story that I dont want to mess with them other than a little window dressing. 9. Titan Rising RPG (Game): In Progress. Yes boys, girls, and robots of all ages someday in the near future I would like to see the Titan Rising Universe in a game format or possibly as a game setting for FS (however i need to talk to Bill and Larry about this). It would be good to see this under the DWD Banner but we will see what happens with that. Also a KH style tactical combat simulator for starship combat in the Titan Rising Universe would be sooooo cool! (sorry I am a little biased on my own behalf) 10. SF / FS Convention Southwest (Con): On Hold. I was hoping for a 2010 con in Vegas but honestly its not going to happen this year. I will coordinate with Shadow Shack when this project is ready to see the light of day. 11. "T'Kon: Dralasite Art Of Self-Defense" (Article & ART): On Hold. Enjoy a slow but amazing Display of this ancient Dralasite Martial Art Of Hand To Hand Combat. 12. Titan Rising: Trinity (Comic): In Progress. With many of the continuity bugs worked out, its now time as the say in the film industry, for a franchise reboot. This latest installment of the Titan Rising Universe will take a much smaller (and manageable) approach to the storyline. You will see a new model for the Starship Trinity Explorer, a redesign of Xin and Shi-an tech, and an update of the starship Hyperion. |
TerlObar July 14, 2010 - 8:22pm | I'd love to help you on the tactical combat simulator for your Titan Rising ships. Drop me a line when you get to that point. Otherwise, it looks like you've got a lot on your plate. Good luck. Ad Astra Per Ardua! wbrowne July 16, 2010 - 2:22am | Wow AZ- that's awesome work. I'm sorry to hear the Haven comic project has had to be abandoned. The Dark Tempest setting looks very exciting. Thanks for putting in so much effort- keep up the great work! |
AZ_GAMER July 16, 2010 - 6:24pm | Thank you, while Haven has been abaodoned as a project you will find most of the work I did for it resurface in the actual setting so it wont be wasted just presented in a different format. |
wbrowne July 24, 2010 - 10:57pm | Titain rising is going to be an awsome FS setting. This sort of content brings a new dimension to game play and it's exciting to see how it all comes together. I'm looking forward to seeing more of both these innovative settings! |
AZ_GAMER July 25, 2010 - 6:27pm | Over the last week I have been focusing on a study of a proposed tactical starship game using the Titan Rising Universe. I have completed a rough draft of a starship consturction system and the math is acutually working with the proposed game stats so that is a step in the right direction. Movement is cinematic as opposed to vector. Truthfully, while I understand the math for vector I really dont like making that many calculations or planning. Most of the math in the system is involved in the record keeping and its just simple addition and subtraction stuff. For $#:!$ and grins I used the FS assembly formula and it seems compatible as well. I looked closely at KH and full thrust game mechanics and decided to use a similiar movement system. However, I am including the use of roll manuvers and pivots that will not cost manuvering points to evecute. Accel and Decel work the same as KH. All statistical point values are based on a factor of 10 so for example a space fighter with a HC (HS) of 1 has Structure Point Value Of 10 (HP) a Hourly Self-Repair Rate of 1 point of damage per hour which is 10% of the ships structure points (DCR system is way too convoluted) and a total value of 10 Command Points. Command Points are the heart of a system. Each Player who represents a SpaceFleet Captain graduates Academy with a certain amount of Command Points. Command Points represent a Captains resources, influence or pull within the fleet, and prestige. As players win battles they are awarded more command points which can be spent on new equipment for their ships, the purchase of new or additional ships, or the hiring of Command Characters which add bonuses to each ships attributes. Each space craft has a command point value which represents how much resources and influence would be needed to effectively opperate the vessel. Obviously small craft with uncomplicated systems and small crews require fewer CP to operate and maintain then larger ones. Command Points essentially work like experience points but also serve as a kind of currency in the game as well. Having a ship with a high command point value also may make you a desireable target as the other player will win the ships command point value if your vessel is captured or destroyed. The Tech Level is higher than knight hawks and while FTL and wormhole travel are understood as part of the Universe they wont play much of a roll in the game as all combat will occur at STL speed in small tactical engagements. Fighters are manned, and will be handled in squadron fashion as opposed to individuals. However, once I get the system written I will create a dog fight supplement which will allow for individual fighter combat for those games where you want to get into a hairy fur ball with your friends. Starships may use FTL as a means of escape to jump out of a fight but once they do they are considered disengaged and may not return to the game. So a word for the wise Captain is to target the enemies FTL module and knock it out so they have to stay and fight. The skill and combat resolution will be entirely based on d100 and percentile chances of sucess that can be modified by equipment or Command Character bonuses. Most games will involve one player with one ship each to command. However, a player can command multiple vessels if they want to keep track of them. Each ship will have its own customizable character sheet and Captains can use command points to purchase or upgrade weapons systems on their ship. They need only to have enough "bay slots" per module to support the installation of the desired system. So each ship is not limted by a set group of weapons. However, its obious that a scout ship wont have the bay space to mount a critical damage weapon such as a heavy laser cannon or mass driver. also each piece of equipment has a CP value if the CP value exceeds the ships CP value it cannot be mounted on that ship (remember CP value also represents a ship's requirements to operate and maintain). |
w00t (not verified) July 25, 2010 - 7:16pm | I will gladly set aside time to help. Do you have a task list or need someone to review material? |
AZ_GAMER July 25, 2010 - 7:54pm | ty woot, i will have something put together soon, i would be happy to have DWD publish this project. Anyone who contributes will have their name added to the credits and get a free copy of the finished product. A "Boxed" Set should contain 1. Basic Game Rule Book 2. Basic Encounter Maps 3. Starship Character Record Sheets 4. Starship, Planet, And Marker Counters 5. A Set Of Random Command Character Cards 6. Two Ten Sided Die |

w00t (not verified) September 28, 2011 - 8:51pm | fyi, added your project site link to the Transportation article in #17. Hope you don't mind. |
AZ_GAMER October 2, 2011 - 7:28pm | I may reconsider resurecting the Haven project but would take it in a different direction if I did. |
AZ_GAMER February 16, 2012 - 11:03pm | Update: A recent interest in Project Hyperion by one of my website contributors may result in reboot of this abandonned project. If a redo is warranted (It's definitely needed) I am tenatively looking at 2013. Essentially the story will be the same but the modeling, art, and story inconsistencies will be fixed. It was a good story, just way too ambitious for its time. Now, since I have the software to redo the series I may take a page from Lucas' book and finally retell this story in the way it was intended. Investment of time and money to get the project off the ground are the major hutrles at this point. Mostly time, as art work for such a project is very very very time consuming. Check out the website www.titanrising.webs.com for future updates. |
