Where are the skills in the book?

I have the basic game rules and it has no skills, but on your characters page they have skills.  Where are the skills and where do I put them on the basic character sheet?  Thank you.

The old boxed set was the basic rules, the advanced rules, some maps, and some counters.

The advanced rules include the skills. The basic rules are just a boardgame to teach the mechanics.

The three books published;

Basic - no skills
Advanced - skills
Zebulon's Guide to Frontier space - lots of skills and a new resolution mechanic
