Imperial Lord July 14, 2008 - 11:22am | More than one beam, yes - any beam. But only one missile shot per turn - whether it be seekers, torpedoes, rocket batteries, or assault rockets. |
TerlObar July 14, 2008 - 12:24pm | One out of each launcher that is. You can fire a torpedo, seeker missile and rocket battery all in the same turn if you have launchers for each. And as IL said, you can fire all your beam weapons every turn. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Gilbert July 14, 2008 - 12:59pm | The way I like to have weapons fire is all energy weapons can be fired in the same turn. However, missles I have them were they can only be fired in quarters. The quarters are bow, stern, port and starboard. For military versions I go with a rank system like this 1 seekers 2 torpedos 3 rocket batteries. These weapons should be fired in this order. Seekers with their unique way of deployment like mines can only be "lauched" toward the stern. torpedos have some tracking ability fire foward. Rocket batteries fire broadside port or starboard. And well, assault rockets are only on fighters and assault scouts. No weapons conflict there. Just keep in mind the rules state only one missle weapon can be fired at anytime. But, I belive that if they are being fired in different directions there should not be a collision. This is to stay within the bounderies of the rules. In my actual game two rocket batteries, two seekers, and four torpedos can be fired in the same turn, OUCH. These kind of battles go very fast and ships get destroyed every where real quick. In the rules a turn is 10 minutes. We go with a turn is 1 minute. Each missle fired gets at least a 5 seconds to clear the next firing, we like to wait about 15 seconds that gives you 6 shots a minute with missle type weapons. We have allowed only laser batteries to play an anti-missle role as well as ICMs. But, that's just the way we like to play it, Fast and deadly. A fleet battle takes only a few hours to play. We have setup skill levels for the gunners to be able to achieve this and have a Chief Weapons Officer to coordinate all of the weapons fire. He is in charge of the weapons fire and control systems. This area in turn has an officer for each weapon class to coordinate exact and precise fire patterns and solutions. |
umungus July 14, 2008 - 1:36pm | So, if your battleship has 10 rocket batteries? They could fire all 10 in a turn? At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
Imperial Lord July 14, 2008 - 2:22pm | So, if your battleship has 10 rocket batteries? They could fire all 10 in a turn? No - just one Rocket Battery shot per fire phase. But, if you were also the moving player, you could also fire 1 torpedo and drop 1 seeker missile. |
umungus July 14, 2008 - 4:29pm | Then why does a battleship have 10 rocket batteries. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
Imperial Lord July 14, 2008 - 4:33pm | That is 10 shots worth of Rocket Battery ammo. |
Gilbert July 14, 2008 - 6:08pm | Sorry, I should have let you know my group and I have been playing for over 20 years. Yes, when a weapon like torpedos has Tx5 it means 1 torpedo launcher with 5 torpedos. Same thing with Sx4, RBx12, or RBx3, it stands for 1 launcher and the number in rounds. By the rules you can only fire one per turn. All is the same with seekers, rocket batteries, and assault rockets. Although, seekers are set like mines before the enemy get to the battle area. You can make rules to fit your group as long as you keep consistancy from one weapon to the next. Doing weapons fire like my group does have its draw back, you empty your magazines very quickly. You can see some reports in the Second Sather War project. |
w00t (not verified) July 14, 2008 - 7:58pm | At the rate the Second Sather War is going it will be 20 years before it's finished! LOL I fire at Will. Not sure what he did but everyone else does it. |
Will July 15, 2008 - 1:15am | You miss. Had my black globe up. Oh, damn, wrong game.... "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. umungus July 15, 2008 - 7:08am | Thanks for the help, I get it now. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
Gilbert July 15, 2008 - 1:59pm | LOL I fire at Will. Not sure what he did but everyone else does it. Well, w00t, get your butt in the war. Or do you want to switch sides? |

Gilbert July 15, 2008 - 3:37pm | LOL I fire at Will. Not sure what he did but everyone else does it. Well, w00t, get your butt in the war. Or do you want to switch sides? I have no intention to switch to the loosing side. ;-) Stop firing dud torpedos and get into the war then. You can't win with just talk. Put some weapons fire in back of such confident words. Or, did you forget how to arm your seekers? Your batteries fire blanks? Oh,oh, their just big flashlights. |
