Corvus June 11, 2008 - 1:03am | I'm not posting this as a member of the "Alpha Team", or attempting to drum up more traffic as Bill's friend. I'm just posting this as me, and I'm wondering... ...where the heck is everybody? Is there a bunch of activity going on in the projects that I'm just not seeing? This site looks like it's on life support, with a few dedicated people (Thanks, guys! Please, keep up the love!) talking and hundreds of people with nothing to say or do. Bill himself is missing, and hasn't even bothered to drop us a line just to let us know he's still alive. My love for Star Frontiers has gone back into the dusty old box in my mental closet and I've pretty much moved on. Has the Revival sputtered out? TerlObar June 19, 2008 - 8:01am | I agree that smaller more frequent issues would be better. Who cares if they are only 20-30 pages long? Just for fun here is the publication history of the StarFrontiersman as a function of time giving the page count of each issue. It has been continually growing. If we capped the page count at 25-30 pages you could probably get an issue out every 6 weeks at the current submission rate. If that started happening you'd probabaly get more submissions as well and build up that back log. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Sam June 19, 2008 - 7:46am | I also agree. We should have a much shorter Frontiersman come out more often. |
SmootRK June 19, 2008 - 12:11pm | I pop in and out of here at all kinds of odd hours, and I have not seen him at all for quite a while now. He is likely tied up with something that keeps him from even bothering with the sites. I have not tried sending an email lately though. Bill? Are you here? <insert witty comment here> |
CleanCutRogue June 30, 2008 - 3:10pm | I'm sorry everyone... I know I've been away. I've been quite busy with my new career and with family needs. I began all this when I had a lot more time on my hands. I will make an effort to spend more time on these forums. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

Axle June 30, 2008 - 11:50pm | Hey all, I, Mr. Axle, BOING, can do all for you. |
Shadow Shack July 1, 2008 - 5:03am | Deadlines: if it weren't for the last minute I'd never get anything done. Just a bit of deadbeat deadpan humor there --- don't mind me I've been up all weekend. No sweat Bill, stuff happens. Glad to see new faces and old alike. From the guy that changes his avatar at random intervals... |
Rum Rogue July 1, 2008 - 5:43am | Hey Bill, Just glad to hear you are well. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. I constructively abuse my time. |
Will July 1, 2008 - 7:52am | Howdy Bill, Glad to see you're still alive, now where's my Frontiersman? :D "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. TerlObar July 1, 2008 - 7:58am | Yes, welcome back Bill. We were about to send a Star Law posse to look for you. This should probabaly go into one of the StarFrontiersman threads but since I'm responding to a comment made here ... I agree with Axle on the deadline idea. I don't know how much time it takes to turn around the submissions and get them formatted but if you set a deadline of the 15th for publication on the 1st of the following month it might help. And then just put out whatever was submitted. If it is only 20 pages long, so what? Issue 1 was only 18 pages including the cover and the index and it was fine. I think the consensus has been that we'd prefer to see frequent, small issues over spradic larger ones. I also think if you just start putting them out regularly (I'd go with bi-monthly to start) things will pick up. I'm also stll willing to help. Another thing that might be worth doing is making a page showing what has been submitted and desired contributions so people can sort of see the queue and what is happening. Visibility always provides motivation, both for the producers and the editors . I believe there is already enough material for a small issue. Shadow Shack has produced three items just in the last couple of weeks. I submitted the Jump Tug a while back and I believe there have been a few other submissions. If not, a deadline with an expected release date might just get them in. As for future submissions, I know I have two other ships almost ready to go (deck plans are done, I just need to do a write up) and a few other things that I'll be submitting. I just have to wait until they show up in the campaign I'll be starting within the next couple of weeks. I don't want to spoil it for the characters. I had actually hoped to kick the campaign off today but there have been some technical dificulties (and I was hoping the next StarFrontiersman would be out since the job ad for the characters is a classified ad in the back of this issue). Shadow Shack July 1, 2008 - 6:41pm | Ooh...deckplans. I have a grip of those for future submissions. |
umungus July 2, 2008 - 9:25am | I have an article I would like to submit for the next Frontiersman. I have kept working on it just because I haven't heard anything about a deadline. Always more polishing to do. If I get an idea when SF9 will be put together I will submit it. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
