Anonymous October 10, 2007 - 8:06am | I'm writing an adventure for SFMan issue 7 and need to know what the max altitude of an aircar is. Currently the "mooks" have used an air car to on the 99th floor to....well I don't want to ruin it. From AD: above the level of the treetops, 50 to 100 meters above the ground. To stay out of sight they can fly very close to the ground, following the contours of the hills and valleys. This is called Nap of the Earth (NOE) flying. |
Rum Rogue October 10, 2007 - 8:53am | hmm, what is the ceiling for the most modern helicopter? I would use that as a baseline. Im looking at a few military chopers, and im seeing a regular max ceiling around 3500 meters. a few military ones with a max of 5100-5200 m. Russian KA-60: Service ceiling: 5150 m Hover ceiling - in ground effect: 2900 m - out of ground effect: 2100 m quick google searches are finding that. Time flies when your having rum. CleanCutRogue October 10, 2007 - 8:59am | question is - is an aircar enclosed/sealed/pressurized? Many illustrations show it with an open top. Some show it with a closed top. If it's pressurized, it flies with jets so should have a service ceiling more inline with modern jets... somewhere under 20,000 meters. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. CleanCutRogue October 10, 2007 - 9:04am | Regardless - it will go to 99 floors. That's only around 300-500 meters or so. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our

w00t (not verified) October 10, 2007 - 9:06am | I got my question answered, thx. let's keep going on the thread, then I can make an offical Document on aircars and maybe an article for SFMAN. Bill, what project should such a document exist? maybe I can start a new project called "Alpha Dawn Expanded" that remains true to core rules but just explains/expands the technology in the AD book. w00t -n- for ! |

Luxury/sport models vs practical/utility models. If someone really wanted to break them down into catagories like that, performance could drastically change. In my thoughts anyway. I dont really know the performance difference in modern vehicles between luxury, sport, and other. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. Rum Rogue October 10, 2007 - 9:15am | maybe I can start a new project called "Alpha Dawn Expanded" that remains true to core rules but just explains/expands the technology in the AD book. I like that idea too. I have done that with some of the gear. An expanded equipment list. It would be fun to have others look at it and tell me what they think, and compare with things they have done as well. Time flies when your having rum. Im a government employee, I dont goof-off. CleanCutRogue October 10, 2007 - 9:23am | That's a cool idea. It also shows more versitility of the site. Not all projects need be for the creation of something tangible (handbook/program/etc.).... a Project could simply be for a compartmentalized discussion of specific topics. Just don't use the Documents or Downloads or Support Issues... tada! It's a forum. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
