off the top of anyone's head has there been a radio or com device detonator for explosives in SF? in either SFman or FE?
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

com detonator: I would propose 5km range of the chronocom and 50 Cr cost.

forgot we need the sender and reciever unit for this so maybe 100 cr for a link pair of units

That works for me... THough I think I remember something about detonators... maybe its on the wiki site.

Zeb's has a radio beam detonator, with a max range of 100m. It includes a signalling device. One of my players used these quite alot in the last adventure that I ran.

I lloked in zebs and didn't see it. must not have looked hard enough.

a whole plethora of detonators in there damn I must be blind.

nerf this thread then.

The Light detonator: explosive and a light detonator are placed on shadowed section of a ships hull and detonator is set for a certain intensity of light- as a ship gets closer to the system's sun the light intensifies and triggers the bomb.

That's a good Sathar terrorist detonator... another detonator could be designed to detect the weird effects of the Void and take out a ship while its doing its jump but before it slows down. No wreckage and the authorities would have no idea how the ship disappeared.

A void jump trigger? Interesting.

Truth be told i started this thread working on a limpet mine equipment article for issue #25.

So im going to upgrade damage or area of effect for a few of the grenades for that have a magnetic and tangler adhesive backing version of each mine with a standard integral timer detonator as well as an anti-tamper feature and review the other detonators from zebs .

Here is the Zeb's detonatory:

Radio BeamDetonator: Radio beam detonators have a maximum range of 100 meters. When a radiobeam detonator is used, modify the detonation roll by -1 Column Shift. Theradio beam signaling device comes with the detonator when purchased.

To me, a 100 meter range is rather short... unless the detonator is sending a signal out to other mines/explosives?

Det Cord allows one detonator to send off multiple explosives. So, perhaps the Radio Beam Detonator works on a similar principal, but it is wireless.

Now, a detonator should be able to receive an arming/triggering signal from a much longer distance than 100 meters, assuming the signal isn't jammed.

I purloin some of these thoughts for my demolitions story.

The distance of a radio signal is determined by the amount of power used and the sensitivity of the receiving antenna on the bomb.  You can go hi power to get thousands of kilometers or a very sensitive received and antenna with good band conditions of low noise and receive very low power from a thousand kilometers away.

This all depends on what frequency you use as well.  I would just change from 100 meters to 1000 kilometers unless you want to get really complicated and expensive too.

You could for simplicity sake do cheap equipment has short range and expensive equipment has long range.
