KRingway June 23, 2016 - 2:47am | How much of the body is covered by the gel suit? Does it include a helmet or head covering? What about foot protection? Are suits for Vrusk and Osakar even more expensive? How are they 'non-Newtonian'? Can they be worn under a spacesuit - if so, what about a suit with the extra pieces? |
KRingway June 23, 2016 - 6:31am | And how does the suit work with Yazirian 'wings' and does it affect their ability to glide in any way? |
ChrisDonovan June 23, 2016 - 7:56am | Short answer: Gelsuits otherwise conform to all other rules regarding defensive suits. Longer answer: I may tweak the specifics a bit. |
KRingway June 24, 2016 - 8:12am | But canon isn't particularly lucid on various details, hence some of my questions. |
ChrisDonovan June 24, 2016 - 9:02am | The general assumption on defensive suits is that they cover from head to wrists/ankles and do not include helmets. Provision is made for Yazirian wing-roots and special Dralasite versions are available. Vrusk/Osakar defensive suits are same price. Hence "they otherwise conform to all other rules..." No need to belabor the obvious. "Non-newtonian" refers to a class of fluids that don't conform to Newtonian physics. They're real fluids, btw, and yes, the military is experimenting with them for armor purposes https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-Newtonian_fluid http://www.seeker.com/liquid-body-armor-hardens-on-impact-1766089563.html (among others) |
