Quick question; which Buck Rogers. The original serials have an SF feel for me. The first season of the Gil Gerald TV series more of a Zeb's feel and the second season are more Knight Hawks campaign.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Battle Beyond the Star- Film I mean the Varda comes off as some dralasite philosophy, Space Cowboy and his ship are totally SF. And the crazy Amazon felt like the girl from the AD box cover but turned up to a "10" and in less clothes to appeal to nerdy 12 year olds. The story totally read like a SF module.

As corny as it comes across there is a soft spot in my Heart for Jason of Star Command and Ark 2- especially since the illustration in WoWL for Planaron station is based of the asteroid base model in Star Command. And Draco with the laser eye monacle, I mean when Darth Vader is already book getting a dick baddie with a freaking laser monacle for a Saturday morning kids show is pretty cool.

Was it OutLand that had Sean Connery as a sheriff on some asteroid mining outpost?

Silent Running- loved seeing AG ships, and robots.

Alien! Alien! Alien! Aside from artificial gravity that was total SF!!!! And then they came out with Aliens!!! OMG I had a nerdgasm over that.

Firefly/Serenity - freaking awesome cool wild west meets space.

This was an odd one: Salvage One with Andy Griffith, he had a home built space ship that landed tail first, and used it to salvage junk satellites. Only one season and it jumped the shark when the found lost Civil War soldiers.

Original BSG.

Love the original V
You just have to love a TV show pitched as "alien space Nazis invade the earth" who knew the leader of the alien space Nazis would be so hot!

Star Trek and Star Wars never really felt like SF for me.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

The leader of the Alien Space Nazis was John. I will not question your romantic tastes but I do believe you meant the Dr. Menegele of the Alien Space Nazis Diana.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?

Lol, yes I was thinking of Diana. And I agree with your assessment of BR with Gil Gerald. Although the feather wig on Hawk annoyed the piss out of me, it was pretty lame.

Second on Ice Pirates that was a lot of fun and its robots were a close match for SF.

You know, the thing about AG in SF is that none of the modules I can remember ever brought the issue up except in passing.  The original adventure (Volturnus) ignored the issue on the Serena Dawn, which should have been in micro-G at the start of the adventure.

I meant the 70s Buck, but by the same token I also forgot to mention Flash Gordon, which was 40s serial style, even with the the 70s animated version.

Jedi: yes, Outland was the Sean Connery as space Marshal one.

Did anyone notice that Planeron Station's illo also had Buck Rogers' Thunderfighters in it? ;)

Yeah, SA/JoSC and Ark II have SF-y stuff...heck, I even wrote up the Ark ;) (again).

Firefly feels a little off for SF.  I see where people could go that way, but it just doesn't feel right to me.

If they had done a Star Frontiers animated like they did with D&D, I would have chosen something like this for the title music:

and this screams SF to me ...I don't care what others say:

Yes, Sean Connery was in Outland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYc2GQyrAlw

Oh, someone else liked Battle Beyond the Stars besides me? Wow.

If you wanted to go into horror, there was Saturn 3.

You could have the Day of the Triffids for those who like walkiing plants.

Lifeforce for the life energy leeching vampires.

The Omega Man... OK, I'm going into Gamma World mode... sorry...

Scanners for those in the Mentalist profession/calling...

The Thing, Tremors...

Dune (some what), Star Man (some what), Alien Nation...

Westworld for the androids gone crazy theme...

Ice Pirates

The Last Starfighter.

The entire run of the original V series. I haven't seen the new run yet so I'll reserve juedgement for that.

First seasons of the 80's Buck Rogers & Battlestar Galactica runs...

Like I said, first season. Consequently, the second season of Battlestar Galactica was just as lame as Buck's second season.
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

The second season had some good moments.  Buck's speech at the end of "Time of the Hawk" was one of the best I've ever heard.

True, there were memorable moments from each run. The origin story of Boxy in BG season 2 where Starbuck crash lands and re-programs a cylon centurion was a decent show, but overall next to their respected original seasons both left you severely wanting, certainly to the point where it wasn't worth subjecting yourself to the entire run to catch those few gems.

Maybe it was Zee. I honestly don't recall, but...

<spoiler alert, don't read any further unless you wish to subject yourself to said spoiler>

...whoever it was, Starbuck turned out to be his father.

^Ehhhh...yes and no...

But the baby  was Dr Zee.  Boxy was Serina's son and was adopted by Apollo when he and Serena got married.  In Galactica 1980 it was revealed by a grown up Boxey that his real name was Troy.  "Boxey" was a nickname.

I just watched The Omega Man with Charlton Heston today. It would work perfectly in SF if you are using the Blue Plague. Having the PCs land on a quarantined planet and discovering the Family would make for some interesting fun.
Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go?
