Music forms in the Frontier

Ooolonolokolo Zoon#folo: called Osakaran Opera in Pan Gal as the Osakaran words are nearly unpronounceable. (Think Fifth Element opera sequence but even more freakier) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4MR6D7tL38UU
It goes without saying that only the Osakar can perform this art form.

RagePercussion: formally called Yazirian Rage Percussion as it was developed by yazirian living on Gran Quivera and quickly spread to the Yazirian Community on Triad. It's considered the antithesis to traditional yazirian music forms of ballads and hagiographic warrior songs as it heavily instrumental with limited lyrics and shouted choruses. There has been a rivalry between Gran Quivera and Triad musicians and fans which has resulted in blood and death. In much the same way that the human classical music of Country Western is simply called Country, Yazirian Rage Percussion is now simply called Rage Percussion in part because there are now human, humma, and dralasite performers of the art form.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Nebula Synth: a Rim export developed by the ifshna. The form is heavily synthesized instrumental music described as a musical drug trip. Proponents claim you can feel the rhythms of the nebulae in this art form.

Vrusk song and dance: there was some development on this and I'll have to look it up before commenting on it or simply let it stand on its own: Corporate Solidarity Dance and Vrusk Sodolity Dance

Space Punk: something I created in a PbEM game but did not describe only implied there was a crazy haircut associated with it that required straight razors for shaving the head.

Reference real life example of a disparate culture adopting an art form from another culture: the Niger African Tarug rock musician doing a remake of Purple Rain in his native language which actually has no word for purple thus its called "Rain the Color of Blue with a little Red mixed in".  So imagine a vrusk feeling out on Saturday Night Feavor and disco becoming an adopted art form among the vrusk. Stylized movement and dance would appeal to creative vrusk who already have the corporate Solidarity Dance.

Retro-80's Buck Rogers music for the win. Cool

I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Trek is too early, TOS is a product of the 60s. BR and SF are from the early 80s (along with a nod for Battlestar Galacica, but I don't recall any funky music from that series).

But SF has quite a few influences from TOS, so it still kinda works Wink

Zap Dance: form requiring special clothing based off shock glove technology but with power stepped down. Music is hard and something akin to rock. Dancers gyrate on the floor "trying" not to touch but its inevitable that dancers will do so and then the electric zaps begin going off. Which causes dancers to jerk and make other zapping connections.

You all might want to connect with KDVS they have some pretty odd music shows, some are a blast from the past others electronic music and more.

The Movie Green Slime has a dance scene & so does Wild, Wild Planet both very different one people dancing, one theater.

I like the tron dance as SF inspiration.  Each dancer could have their own suit and control over how it lights.  This could get as advanced as adding a holo screen so that the dancer not only has colr in the dark but in the light they change form.  Think of the Michael Jackson video Black and White but do the whole body not just the face.

Ahh hollow dancing: a derisive term invented to refer to those who use holo screens to hide the fact they can't dance.

I imagine the Sathar listen to some kind of a breathing and hissing march to keep their cadres in step.

The Lost Sleestaks are the most popular band on Sathar worlds.

Awesome!

I could have sworn there was one with rope lights too, but for the life of me I can not remember the show/movie.

Yes PCs should be tortured with bizarre future dance & music and then forced to do waltzes too! LOL you know to make that contact, protect that client or get the job!

After all "Some people juggle geese."

Ritual dance offs for maybe another race... "You have insulted us! Do you accept the challenge?" Offended aliens "Hell Yes! Let's do it (putting fists up)" UPF Citizens "All witness the duel has been accepted." Not offended alien NPC. "What pistols? Swords? etc" UPF Citizens, "No friend, it's a dance duel" NPC friendly, "A what, what?" UPF citizens "Your race(s) honor are a stake if you fail to make a good showing... (no treaty, no business deal, death penalty)" LOL.

Aerial Dancing would seem like a Yazi thing... imagine that whole flying circus dance floor...

If any planet has ballroom dancing or waltzes it would be Clarion, you'd expect. However, it might be based on something unexpected: county line dances, salsa dancing, or ? As I remember there was a ball and duel episode in Firefly, Malcolm is caught off guard by the fact that the duel will be with swords.

Yazirian Rage Rock, not intended to be the same as Rage Percussion mentioned earlier.

Legendary group: Battle Rage

Made for holovid music group: the  Mookies, created by Star Play this group which was the center of a comprehensive marketing program involving a holo vid program, merchandise (including action figures) and a line of clothing. They were comic and presented a kinder gentler face to Yazirians.
