 September 19, 2015 - 2:53pm | Dunno if the rest of you all have seen that "Golf commentators wisper, its what they do" commercial. I kind of get a kick out of it every time its on and I'm not even sure what the ad is for, Gieco maybe. Anyhow it reminded me of the stupid pod race in the Star Wars prequels. A "game or sporting event" played out but with actual tactical encounters. Star Spawn of Volturnus had some of this- the kurabunda hang glider hunt of the rollers and the great game of the ul-mor. Have any of you done this sort of thing and how would you rate it for game play? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
 September 20, 2015 - 12:41pm | Remember a commercial a few years ago where they showed a spiced up golf game where football players tackled golfers who didn't pay attention. An extra bit of roughness to keep players on their toes should always be considered. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
September 20, 2015 - 2:10pm | Dont remember that one, but sounds fun. A similar but alternate idea is the Raiders of the Lost Ark openning: which I would describe as a trap guantlet. This turns the dungeon crawl on its head in that there is no combat in the dungeon crawl; lots of locate and disarm traps and puzzle problems and then a timed race for the exit. Its different but almost a solo encounter for a theif or technician character. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
 September 21, 2015 - 12:14am | I actually liked the pod race, as far fetched as it was. The extended scenes were great for a single sitting (deleted scenes portion of the DVD allows you to watch the complete race in three scenes, one per lap, totalling nearly 30 minutes). |

September 23, 2015 - 6:08am | All of the Outpost.com commercials were hilarious, but that was the best one. Ravenous wolves, tattooed children, broken death rays...all worth it.
