KRingway August 19, 2015 - 12:55am | But only of the Sathar are very good at the 'turning' process. If not, the others would quickly suspect foul play and either ignore the officer(s) or organise some sort of lynching... This also assumes that the command structure stays in place within the camp. |

jedion357 August 19, 2015 - 5:46am | I think that since the hypnotism is suppose to be a big secret that they would focus on officers "during interrogation" and that bright minds would realize something something was up as people planning things kept getting taken and coming back a little off. Organization would probably collapse fairly fast unless there was tight compartmentalization. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
KRingway August 19, 2015 - 8:05am | A few cybernetic implants here and there go a long way... Or something more strange, like the things found on some Sathar agents (as suggested in the Zeb's Guide timeline). But perhaps both might become a little too obvious within the confines of a camp. |
KRingway August 19, 2015 - 8:09am | I think that since the hypnotism is suppose to be a big secret that they would focus on officers "during interrogation" and that bright minds would realize something something was up as people planning things kept getting taken and coming back a little off. Organization would probably collapse fairly fast unless there was tight compartmentalization. You'd have to look at the history of this sort of thing and see if could apply to one in the game. You'd then have to factor in whether the various races would be more or less likely to be convinced by those that have been 'turned'. For example, a Vrusk may have intuitive suspicions but if those suspicions are of a senior Vrusk then there may be an internal conflict in the mind of the suspicious Vrusk... |
jedion357 August 19, 2015 - 9:19am | It's hard to not think of Nazi POW camps with this but I think Bridge on the River Kwai is a better model complete with the Alec Guienness character being an unwitting accompliss for the enemy I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
KRingway August 21, 2015 - 12:50am | That depends on whether you want things based more on reality, or on fictional stuff (i.e. The Bridge On The River Kwai). There are other precedents instead of WWII, especially if you want to have mind-control as a theme - the Korean War is one example. |

jedion357 September 12, 2015 - 7:57am | Truane's Star? Truane's Star would have been POWs and civilians lumped together. The sathar might further segregate combatants and police as they realized these create the most problems. It being a human colony there would still be a minority of the other core four showing up and you'd have to wonder what their reaction to them would be- segregate them further for biological examination and experimentation? Perhaps a middle caste sathar med tech tasked with discovering weaknesses of these new species and performing experiments like a sathar version of Josef Mengele. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
