jedion357 February 4, 2015 - 2:17pm | http://www.rpgnow.com/product/78509/ I just spotted this and suspect its pretty similar to the plethora of setting books kicked out by SJG. No doubt its easily convertable to other d100 systems like HARP or even Star Frontiers. As a fan of Ancient Rome the $10 price tag for the PDF may just tempt me sometime this year. In fact a campaign patterned after HBO's Rome series might just be the ticket for something different. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Putraack February 13, 2015 - 8:48pm | Hmmmmm. I'm a Roman fan, too. Waaaay back when 3e D&D was brand-new (gah!) I had an idea for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer campaign, set in ancient Rome. I'd been reading McCullough's First Man in Rome series and playing in a GURPS game that crossed Buffy with Space:1889-- "into every generation, there is born a slayer" and so on. Anyway, yeah, having a group centered around a junior politician/military man could be good fun, either in Roma or out in one of the provincial cities. |

I would be tempted to do something like the HBO series Rome with its intertwined A&B stories. The PCs would be cast in the roles of Titus and Vorenus and their campaign story would be intertwined with historic figures like Ceasar, Mark Anthony, Brutus, Octavian and so on. The only problem i have with Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the use of the word "Buffy" in the title has always turned me off but the idea of "there will be a slayer in every generation" is scary good! Rome with mythological & supernatural elements? Yeah that would work. perhaps lamia like medusi (half snake/ half woman) cast into the role of vampires? Yeah i can roll with that.
