Classic Elmore and used for a Gamma World cover but man this image screams Star Frontiers to me. It should have been a SF cover IMO. The big vehicle even has red pin stripping like the assault scout!

(Not that there is anything wrong with Gamma World; some of my best friends are mutants.Foot in mouth)

To use this as a "cover" for a SF adventure you would need to:

1. detail the small tanks/tracked vehicles

2. Detail the big tracked vehicle (probably not as hard as you would thing if its going to be a "one off")

3. Detail the snowy world and why their is a seemingly military/mercenary opp in play

4. Write the adventure.

Item #1 is the easiest; Item #3 is the trickiest IMO, Item # 4 should write itself after the other three are done.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Those fliers looks very similar to the ones in the Dragon article detailing corporate wars where one is bearing down on a Galactic Task Force trooper.

I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

@ Shadowshack: WOW, I've never seen that bit of artwork. In style they look like the assault scout but are clearly different.

This bit of art sort of backs up my contention that the color pic was never intended a for Gama World module bur rather Star Frontiers.

Looking at the Leviathan again it strikes me that most of the weaponry is pointing up at a 45 degree angle which suggests air defense or air defense batteries. We could call this a mobile city and the air defense batteries are a legacy of the corporate wars. The tanks, while armed are not really tanks just tracked explorers- sensible on Alcazzar.

Economy of the city is that robotic mining outposts collect ore year round and as Leviathan approaches the ore is delivered for processing and then shipped off planet.

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Now THAT is a truck. Cool

Only issue is that ramp needs some stairs, there's no way those two guys are going to ascend that steep angle. More so with slippery snow on their boots.

new thought. what if this is one of the Von Neumann machines of the Polyhedron or Ares article collection. A mobile sathar factory taken over by a "Mad Scientist" type of Frontier origin. sort of a Disney's The Black Hole meets Ravenloft meets Star Frontiers?

PCs are scout ship crew or other that land on this planet and their conveyance is trashed or taken by the agency running the mobile factory,

steal themes and encounters for The Black Hole and Ravenloft.

Oh yeah there will be a Maximillian ripoff. Sathar hunter killer robot with hover movement.

Star Frontiers star liner mis jumps to a system with this sathar mobile factory in it and the hulk of the ship found orbiting the inhabbitable planet but empty.

Dr Hans Reinhardt is the only "living" person left from the star liner the rest of the crew and passengers seem to have been converted to slave bots. Reinhardt claims it was the worms that did it. he simply keeps them around to run the factory. truth might be that he reactivated the factory and took control of it and used its assets to enslave the star liner's crew and passengers.

it may be that there is a tubed sathar brain. he interacts with it wearing a hush field/sonic screen to prevent any hypnotism by voice. and throughout the facility all speakers have been ripped out.

sathar brains goals: manage to gain access to communication equipment to summon sathar. Hypnotism of the PCs will be aimed at this.

Reinhardt's goals: 1 he plans to use the PCs in someway with a default lowest level of use being slave bots although he may have other plans that he will pursue first.

Grand mad scientist scheme? what is it?

he will be level 6 in both computers and robotics me thinks

he has been experimenting with tubing core four brains into the bots and tanks produced by the factory with a view to perfecting the process in a quest for immortality- the sathar tubed brain in the artifact on Volturnus was presumably there fore 900 years. sathar tube brain that was running this factory may have been centuries old as well. Reinhardt desires to live forevery. thus he's been experimenting on the core four perfecting cybot technology.

one bot, the analog to Old B.O.B. has retained his personality and memories and can help the PCs plus fill them in on back story.

Although what if Old BOB is a copy of Reinhardts personality and has its own agenda? Reinhardt keeps him around because its him. Old Bob is looking to get back to the Frontier and might betray Reinhardt.

Old Bob might desire that the PCs end him at the end of the adventure, presuming he is not a copy of reinhardt but a former member of the passengers or crew of the star liner.
