jedion357 February 16, 2014 - 8:42pm | found this here: http://starfrontiers.info/wiki/index.php/Star_Rover_artwork_and_NPC%E2%80%99s_stats Not sure where the picture came from but correct me if I'm mistaken but isnt that vrusk rocking an A cup? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 February 16, 2014 - 8:47pm | If so then wouldn't copping a feel on a vrusk be pretty much like doing it to a department store manikin? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack February 16, 2014 - 9:50pm | Looks more like a B cup. A cups don't have that much definition at the bottom. |
bossmoss February 17, 2014 - 1:43am | Yes, I remember this picture. Freaked me out years back. Sathar genetic experiments again! |
jedion357 February 17, 2014 - 4:30am | Where was it first published? As art I like the structure of the "colar bone" section of the vrusk but the apparent gill looking structure on the head doesn't work for me. While I like boobs and enjoy looking at them I'm not feeling these on the vrusk (no pun intended). The human looks conflicted like his choices are the hairy ape or the bug and since his hand is on the butt of his pistol perhaps he's thinking about just shooting himself in the head to end the conflict. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
rattraveller February 17, 2014 - 5:42am | As mentioned in another thread this is what happens when different artists are given "freedom" instead of clear guidelines on what to draw. Also what is up with the hairy forearms and beak on the Yazirian? Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
Abub February 17, 2014 - 6:44am | Yes Rattraveller.... Give it to enough Artists and ANYTHING will end up with boobs. ----------------------------------------------- |
Malcadon February 17, 2014 - 2:04pm | Not too long ago, I was talking about female forms in fantasy, at another website. The topic was about monstrous humanoid races where the males look ugly, brutish and beastly (with horns, claws, fangs, etc.), but their female counterparts look like sexy women with only slight monstrous features (small horns and the like). This is more common with video games and some web-comics, then with tabletop RPGs. The topic also talked about the anthropomorphizing of some races to be more sexualize or relatable. I brought-up how the Vrusk in SF used to look androgynous to non-Vrusk, but with d20 Future, female Vrusk were slightly smaller all-around, and they were given a thorax in the shape of a slender human woman with small breasts (breast-like bumps). This is contrary to the overall goal of the aliens in SF - to make them look and act alien, without them being yet another guy with a weirdly-shaped forehead. Another odd fact about most incests, is that females tend to grow larger then males. Vrusk may not have evolved like Earth incests, but they sure the hell did not evolved like humanoid primates ether! |
Abub February 17, 2014 - 2:51pm | and also in most insect species... females are pretty rare compared to the males as they don't need a 1:1 ratio as they birth hundreds or thousands of offspring. I suppose once you get into the area od evloved giant sized insects like a vrusk that huge brood size will go way down to possibly a small number or maybe even one egg at a time. So... perhaps female vrusks would be less rare. And ... it is possible what an alien insect race might have some biological method to feed larve somehow... but i see that as more like a spray they "water" the larve with. ----------------------------------------------- |
Malcadon February 17, 2014 - 9:51pm | With the "anthropomorphizing of some races to be more sexualize or relatable." issue, there is a huge debate among 4e fans about females Dragonborn having "buwbs". (yeah, they are not a mature lot) This is skewy, as dragons (who in the world of D&D, have the ability to fuck and knock-up anyone and anything in creation) are not mammalian, but Dragonborn are part human, who are mammalian. On the other hand, the game is set a magical world of high-fantasy, where leprechauns can piss a rainbow, and Paladins can eat shit and never get sick (yes, this is a class ability). So yeah, it hard to debate physics in a universe that plays by its own rules. |
jedion357 February 18, 2014 - 3:54am | I knew something was hinky with paladins. The rest of the party is on short rations and Mister Goody Two Shoes has been supplimenting his diet with Scoobie Snacks. The sick bastard is going to find out about my class ability of "back stab" with a short sword right up his jacksie. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 February 18, 2014 - 4:01am | Kidding aside: the yazirian's wing flaps were fudged by the artist looking more like a cape in this picture and the sungoogles look a little Lennon-esk. Having drawn a few yazirians I know getting the wing flaps right can be a pain. I do like the Explorer in the background somewhat. to me there is more wrong with the vrusk then right though I liked seeing this artist's rendition of the vrusk hand. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

The sick bastard is going to find out about my class ability of "back stab" with a short sword right up his jacksie. Ummm...that sounded kinda sexual. |
