Rotten December 25, 2013 - 7:39am | http://distractify.com/culture/arts/the-most-spectacular-abandoned-places-in-the-world/ Many of the pics could be used with sci-fi, but most are more suitable for fantasy or post apocalyptic. |
iggy December 25, 2013 - 2:47pm | I like 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13, 19, 21, 22, 28, 32, and 33. All could be used for one RPG or another. Number 1 looks like dralasite inspired houseing in Port Loren. -iggy |
Rotten December 25, 2013 - 3:36pm | Yes, #1 got me thinking sci-fi immediately. Hard not to. Also the Russia Diamond Mine could be a sci-fi dungeon crawl. An old abandoned mine inhabited by creatures or a community of sub-surface aliens. |
Mother December 25, 2013 - 6:44pm | Cool, plenty of uses for these as sci-fi settings....civilizations don't advance along a linear path and places can become abandoned for many reasons. Industrial accidents, plagues, famines, financial collapse, etc. |
Tchklinxa December 27, 2013 - 4:48pm | Nice "Never fire a laser at a mirror." |
Shadow Shack December 28, 2013 - 10:51pm | Feh, thanks to the recession we have plenty of those right along Las Vegas Boulevard...not to mention scattered about the rest of the city as well. I used to work next door to this pile and would occassionally witness a window pane falling to its death. I still have a fair view of it at my current job. |
Tekrat04 December 30, 2013 - 8:08pm | Here are some more info on Chernobyl. |
clikkclikk January 15, 2014 - 5:28am | Also impressive, though not exactly fitting for SF, is Simon Stalenhags gallery. Last game played: Somewhere in the 80th (Vrusk by heart) -- fond of Jugger, a "post-apocalyptic" sport |
jedion357 January 15, 2014 - 6:16am | Also impressive, though not exactly fitting for SF, is That's a seriously cool art gallery its like sci-fi with a Eastern European/ Russian Post soviet era spin and the cancelled Terra Nova TV series all rolled into one. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
