iggy September 30, 2013 - 10:45pm | Has anyone else seen this sketchup model of an assult scout? http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=5697033dbdd5aa40e3bf13b8cd77dc4e -iggy |
iggy March 20, 2014 - 10:20pm | Back when I found the assult scout I posted to the guy that I liked the model. I mentioned he should do some more. He did! https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=ef839ac3ad04c542e3bf13b8cd77dc4e -iggy |

This one is an original project by a guy and look s like a sf container ship with atomic drives to me https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=f67651852297f4c0db3530b6d2a2f4e7 and this one is in the lineage of the sf workpod https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=d9288cfaf741cf087e338aebf530613c I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
cyberia23 March 21, 2014 - 10:30am | Yeah I'm the guy who made the assualt scout and freighters. Got your message on Wikipedia of all places, LOL. I've posted samples of my models links to them on DeviantArt. http://jaythurman.deviantart.com/ so if you want to give feedback that's probably the place to do it since the redesign of 3dWarehouse has no comment section anymore. Also if your looking for ship designs and things to use in games check out what other people have done, you'll find some amazing work. As for making more SF ships, I was going to, but I got a Star Wars bug and moved on to making some SW ships. Plus I got a new job that takes up most of my time, including maditory overtime and weekends, so my modeling free time is extremely limited these days. I used to be able to crank out a model in like a week while sitting around unemployed, but now it takes me at least a month maybe longer to make one ship. Anyway, glad you like my models. Thanks for your support. Jay |
iggy March 21, 2014 - 12:51pm | Jay, Glad you found the message. I was looking for a way to reply back to you via 3dwarehouse the google taught me the feature was now gone. I'll check out your deviant art site. Have a great weekend. -iggy |

With a "K"?!? Why do I get these weird images of powdered MRE grade macaroni & cheese? |
Abub September 9, 2014 - 12:46pm | I've seen a graphic that lists the length of an AS as something like 31 meters. But KH says a HS3 ship is more like 60 meters. My players are going to ask this so they can get thier non-SF minds around the ship i'm now putting them in. ----------------------------------------------- |
TerlObar September 9, 2014 - 2:02pm | You are correct, there is a diagram that says 30m and the average size of a HS 3 ship from the KH rules is 50m. Personally, I think the 30 m size is simply too short and so I go with a 50m length(height) for the Assault Scout. Here's why: In the drawing on the back of the KH map that assault scout is 30m tall. However, the decks are only a little over 2 meters tall and there is no space between them. Those decks are too short for yazirians, who average 2.1m in height (for reference that's 6' 10.5"). They will be bonking their head on the ceiling all the time. Decks on SF ships designed for the core four need 3m (10 ft) decks. Without space between decks, there's nowhere for machinery and conduits and such. Typically I allocate 2m of space (although you could probably get away with 1m in the assault scout) between decks for this material. The plans show 6 decks. If each one is 3m tall and there is 2 meters between them, we have a total of 28 meters just for deck space. Then we have the nose area where the assault rockets and laser battery are housed (the're not in the main decks anywhere) and those easily make up another 10-20 meters of length to house the necessary volume especially since the nose is tapering down. So based on that I give the Assault Scout a length of 50 meters in line with the KH rules and not the 30m length from the diagram. Anyway, thats my 0.02 credits. Ad Astra Per Ardua! TerlObar September 10, 2014 - 7:31pm | And for comparison, the Space Shuttle was 37.24m long and about 5 meters in diameter. Ad Astra Per Ardua!
