Here is an image of a sathar soldier ready for battle.

I drew this up and colored it in with Manga Studio 4 and a Wacom Bamboo tablet.

I tried to stay true to the old comic art style used in the SF rulebooks and modules.

What do you think?Sathar ready for combat

That is great!

In fact, the next issue of the Frontier Exporer magazine is going to be sathar themed.  Would you be willing to let us use this in the magazine?  I'd love to be able to include that as an illustration somewhere in one of the Sathar articles.

Absolutely! If the image fits with the next Frontier Explorer issue feel free to include it.

Consider it public domain. :)

This is an awsome drawing.  You have the origonal SF feel down pretty well.  I'd love to see more.

Well, we are careful to credit all our artists so if we do use it (and I think we will), I'll get back with you to find out exactly how you want to be credited.

I love the image and can't wait to see any others you do.

@iggy: I plan to draw up more. It's just a matter of devoting enough spare time.

I used to just sketch out on paper and try to scan and rework in an image editor but didn't find the results very satisfying.

The tablet makes it much easier to do so there will be more. :)

Which Wacom Bamboo tablet do you have?  I was not familiar with Wacom until this post and googling it.  There seem to be some tablets that are affordable enough to just try out.

I have the CTH470.

Just recently got it for about $75 USD incl tax & shipping.

It's pretty small but that works for me when adding in small details (not making any large broad strokes with the pen).

The Manga Studio software is specifically designed for drawing comics too.

My daughter has the one that is about 8.5x11 in physical size.  That was her birthday present a couple years back.  She loves it as well.  I keep meaning to borrow it from her and play with it but never have the time.

Great stuff AnimuX, I love the fact that the you took care with equipping the sathar and the the dral is good too- I think I detect a little bit of the dralasite strong-id in that picture since he looks like he's going Hulk Hogan with his ship jump suit.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

WOW. This is amazing! Other than the color art in the original books, I can't say that I've seen better Star Frontiers art than this.

Supper!  I have to agree with OnceFarOff.  I haven't seen better fan art.  This stuff will attract the attention of a new generation of SF fans.

Yes.  Between AZGamer's photo-realistic stuff and renderings and AnimuX's manga  with a retro SF feel the community has both ends of the spectrum in great form.  I would really like to see AnimuX's take on a vrusk in an action pose with a vrusk centric weapon.

Vrusk (as requested) is coming along nicely. Will take another day or so to finish it up. :)

The vrusk head is tough to get right, I know, great job.

Perhaps the blasters are sonic stunner?

Great job AnimuX.  Can't wait to see what else you come up with.

Thanks everybody! :)

As for the vrusk weapons: I always assumed the generic term for a beam weapon was a blaster, like a laser pistol, in sci-fi, in general.
