jedion357 May 3, 2013 - 8:44am | I've been planning out a new picture in my head which is a revisit of something i did earlier with the sathar but wasn't happy with. Part of the new plan was an assault scout landed tail first in the ba kground but then since this was a sathar themed picture the assault scout seems out of place. What do the sathar land troops with anyway? Nothing in their order of battle that we have any real ideawould of what it looks like seems atmo capable except the fighters and the sathar scout craft from the beyond the frontier campaign. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar May 3, 2013 - 9:35am | I have my Sathar ships carrying shuttles. I've never put a lot of thought into them but imagine them to be simple, fairly boxy affairs designed to just get down to the ground fast and get back up again. They tend to be cheap as they expect to take loses from planetary defenses and they carry a bunch of them. Ad Astra Per Ardua! jedion357 May 3, 2013 - 11:33am | Here is a quick sketch I did of a lander. I think it looks like a sathar design. My rough thinking while drawing this was approx HS2 with pod laser system (FF) Chemical rocket which is in the lowest deck and central to the ships vertical axis- this rocket takes up most of the lower part of the ship. I'm figuring on enough fuel for one round trip from orbit to ground and back, Four landing struts with maneuvering thrusters positioned between landing struts is a oval door that is a tubular chute to the deck above (think a tubular water slide at something like Six flags) this allos the sathar to pack in lower caste sathar in holding vats in the deck above the rocket engine and rapic deploy them upon landing- they just slide down the chute with has a curve at the bottom and they tumble out and slither away onto their objectives. I've depicted this with four such chutes- two lead to lower cast holding vats, one to a stasis chamber for carrying something big like a pair of quick deaths or a slither or perhaps a cybo dragon the 4th chute is an actuall ingress and egress hatch that leads to a spiral tube (because why would a sathar use a ladder? unless he had to) that the command crew and or middle to higher caste sathar use to access the command module deck(s) you know this looks like a Russian craft a little. jedion357 February 20, 2019 - 8:17pm | Alright, the original post was in 2013 and starting in that year i dont find the sathar lander in any of the issues and there were 2 issues with sathar ships on the covers write up and deck plan and this is a solid submission. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 February 24, 2019 - 9:39pm | Ah, ha! This could be a Sathar submission! i had thought this had been published and it was in the destroyer manual Tom S produced I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
