WOW, the kickstarter campaign for this item raised over 2 mill when the goal was only 30K!

Possibilities for 3D mapping at the table top right on your battle mat. pretty cool.
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Holy crud! The applications for that is flippin' tremendous. No wonder it's gotten such support.

This thing is way cool!  Want.

It would go well with the 3D printer I just convinced the wife-unit I needed to buy ("to encourage the kids to explore new technology" was the winning argument).

This is what my Dad said to buy the Commodore 64 in 1984.  Then I drug in into my bedroom and he didn't get to play with it again.  I needed it to write an SF character generator.

Haha, it's an age-old argument.  Seems to work every time (psssst, don't tell the spouse units!).

I don't recall the exact reasons why we got our C64, but my parents refused to buy a second TV so mine had to stay in the family room.  There were some arguments over "coding games vs. watching shows"...I did end up being a software architect though. :)

I scrounged an old black and white portable tv to work with and used the family color tv for games on the weekend.

My parents kind of hated tv, or sought to limit it while raising kids.  Our sole tv was black and white. :)  Had to do color work at the computer lab at high school (it had *2* color monitors and the rest green screens).

In some twisted parental logic my parents bought a huge console color tv a couple of weeks after I left for college.

ROFL! I have got to meet your parents. They must have laughed for a whole week after they got it. That's brilliant.

I like that, I would steal and use that but my spouse hates technology in an irrational way. She let the phone bill go unpaid till the bill was $700 and they shut it off just to prove that we coudn't afford the internet.

Incidently, the Hobby Bunker over in Malden has a major toy soldier business going and a major portion of their mail order business is Money orders- men not wanting the spouse to see a credit card charge.

Yuck, my first wife tried things along those lines.  In the last 20 years since the divorce she's had 7 more (ex)husbands, I've only had 1 more wife (17 years so far).

So you are saying that there is a market for someone who prints plastic gaming miniatures and advertises mail order w/money orders?  Could even ship in official corporate document looking packaging. :)

@ firstcitizen i bet your ex doesnt think she's part of the problem! As check out the hobby bunker on line they sell all sorts of stuff and move a lot of the high end pre painted miniatures of the ove 70mm variety that are not intended to play with. Pro painted and air brushed stuff that sells in the $60 to $120 range of romans, gauls, WW2 and etc. In fact the toy soldier market is 90% of their business while role playing games are only 10% yet the owner maintains a rpg section in store larger than what the % of business warrents. They have weeks where money orders out number credit/debit receipts on the mail order side.
