Murphy was also offered a part in 1986's Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, a role that, after being heavily re-written from comic relief to love interest, ultimately went to future 7th Heaven star Catherine Hicks. Oh yeah that's Eddie Murphy, aka Buckwheat, aka Donkey, aka Beverly Hills Cop Now that would have been something- Eddie Murphy as a William Shatner love interest! I don't have any interest in watching guys kiss but that I would have loved to see! I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |

Like when you mentioned Ripley's role was originally written for a man. Great now I have an image of Eddie Murphy in his underwear trying to sneak into his spacesuit to blow the Alien out the airlock. Thanks. Sounds like a great job but where did you say we had to go? |
jedion357 October 3, 2012 - 3:20pm | And now you mention Eddie Murphy and underware and I can't get that out of my mind- thanks! "Apparently Eddie Murphy is like the last actor to ever sign an exclusive contract with a studio (Paramont) and Paramont thought it would be a good idea to pair its then highest grossing actor with its then highest grossing franchise and so you get Eddie Murphy as comic relief in a Star Trek movie. Yeah that makes sense. What figure salary do studio executives earn for thinking this stuff up? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
