jedion357 August 10, 2012 - 3:03am | It gives me great pleasure to announce after two months of hard work that the Frontier Explorer magazine is live and on line! http://frontierexplorer.org/magazines Currently issue #1 is available as a PDF download and online articles. You will be able to link directly to any article in any issue right on the net which will make referencing specific information a breeze. In a short time you will be able to purchase a print on demand version from one of the usual companies providing that service. We've arranged for the map in issue one to appear at the center staple of the print version and on the back side of the map is only charts and a ship cross section so that you'll be able to remove it from the center of the print version as if it was a module and not interfere with reading your hard copy of the magazine. But why remove the map when you can down load the hi-res image of it and print it separate for your gaming pleasure! Speaking of modules, part 1 of the Mooks Without Numver adventure debutes in issue #1! I'm immensely greatful to my partner Tom Stephens (Terl Obar) for the Hurculean task he took on organizing the web site and building in all the functionality into it that we wanted. Also for all the layout work he did while I focused on creative works. [jedion tips the visor on his vacuum suit to Terl Obar- I'd raise a cold one but when I tried to pour a beer in vacuum it didn't work so well.] There is so much to tell you about the zine but I suggest you pop over to the FE site and download it for yourself and get your game on! Consider registering with the FE site as we will have a magazine subscription service and send emails announcing the newest issue, no wondering when an issue is coming out a reminder to download the latest issue will hit your in box of your email service! Plus by registering you can post in the forums to discuss magazine issue and you get another special perk- early release issues where we provide you with a early release (sans cover) one week before the general release. Registered users will get to see the zine ahead of time and provide feedback that can impact the final product. So set your bap bin for the Frontier Explorer and get exploring! I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
CleanCutRogue August 10, 2012 - 7:59am | Looks GREAT! Didn't read any yet (downloaded while at work) but wow you guys did a great job! I think we need to do some cross-advertising - you guys want to get an ad in sfman 18? I can't speak for William Douglass (he's putting it together) but I think there's still time to pimp it in #18. Anything I can do to help, please let me know! 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
vision, but when you're cool like us the sun shines all the time. |
w00t (not verified) August 10, 2012 - 7:59am | Wow, you guys did awesome! I love the NPC profiles. I so glad there is more Star Forntiers goodness out there, so happy we could inspire you to create something to be proud of. |

jedion357 August 10, 2012 - 8:34am | We'd love to have some cross overs with the SFman. You guys are the custodians of the Digitally remastered material so I'd like to see a particular dragon article re published soon due to a major theme I came up with for next summer's issue and it would be good to just site the SFman for people rather than site the obscure dragon net archieve. we've also pumped the recent publication larry just wrote, congrats to woot on that BTW. and thanks for the kind words; this was immensely gratifying. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
OnceFarOff August 10, 2012 - 9:55am | Congratulations guys! It looks great. I read it from cover to cover today and it was a great read. Also, I thought that it was very well laid out on the ezine version, and it translated well to the online version as well! Thanks for all the hard work and SF goodness... |
iggy August 10, 2012 - 12:32pm | <Reaction> ???? Supprised Cool </Reaction> Thanks for putting the Losso Dragon in. It's great to see them get day light somewhere. -iggy |
FirstCitizen August 10, 2012 - 6:33pm | Congrats! Love the simple border free layout (makes it easier to read electronically IMO). Content is fun to read. I just wish the link wasn't posted during the workday, productivity suffered immensely. :) |
Karxan August 10, 2012 - 10:27pm | Nice work Jedion. More SF is good SF. |
Identity Crisis August 11, 2012 - 2:00am | I haven't read this yet. Just glossed over it. But wow! Didn't even know this was in the works. Guess I don't visit enough. This looks awesome. Thanks to all involved for the hard work. |
jedion357 August 11, 2012 - 3:57am | Good job to AZ Gamer on the comic too, I liked that he got that feel that reminded me of reading Dragon magazine as a teen ager. @ Firstcitizen: lol we'll try to post it in the middle of the night next time I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar September 13, 2012 - 1:07pm | For those that are interested, we now have the print version of issue 1 of the Frontier Explorer available through DriveThruRPG. To order yourself a copy, go to the Frontier Explorer Issue 1 page to order one. The print edition is full color throughout, just like the PDF, and is bound saddle stitched (staple in the middle) so that it will lay open and flat on the table if you so desire. The town map from the Mooks Without Number adventure (pages 22-23) was positioned to be on the center pages of the print edition and is printed as a single complete map. As such it can be easily removed and placed on your gaming table for use while running the adventure or anywhere else you'd like to use it in your campaign. This was our first attempt at this and it took us a little longer than we would have liked to work through the process (which included finding a bug in DriveThruRPG's print edition submission software ). For future issues the print edition will be available closer to, if not at the same time as, the release of the electronic version. Ad Astra Per Ardua! jedion357 September 26, 2012 - 5:20am | WOW!!! I just got my print copies of FE issue 1 in the mail this week and they look awesome, spent two hours reading through it in the waiting room at dance school and all the other dance moms were impressed with it thought they may have just been humoring me ;) I highly recommend the print version. kudos to Terl Obar for arraigning to have the two page map at the center staple- that is a really nice touch. Plug: make sure you're registered at the FE web site as we will be issuing a non covered "sneak peak" PDF prior to publication for feed back from our "subscribers" as we'd rather catch editorial or layout issues before publication. PS: if I hadn't said so before, AZ you did a bang up job with the comic, this dralasite is holding 3 thumbs up. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
