jedion357 June 26, 2012 - 4:57am | I remember my Dad telling a story about wrestling a bear at a circus in Hartford CN to impress my Grandmother. The two other guys that got into the ring didn't close with the bear but Grandpa did and put a bear hug right back on the circus bear and got a little scratched up on his arms for his trouble. (I did get the impression that Grandma wasn't that impressed.) Anyway that's family legend. This morning I followed a link to a catalog of rare color photographs from the '30s and '40s and spotted the following taken at the Vt state fair in '41: http://www.cbsnews.com/2300-501465_162-10011709-32.html?tag=page;next http://www.cbsnews.com/2300-501465_162-10011709-54.html?tag=page;next Nice little confirmation of family legend. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack June 27, 2012 - 4:55pm | Far out. Are your grandparents still alive? |
jedion357 June 30, 2012 - 9:21am | Naw, I've been trying to carch my Dad after a few beers at family get togethers and get stories out of him since he just turned 70. His Thailand experience during Vietnam War and stuff about Grandpa. I figure get these stories now. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack July 1, 2012 - 1:54am | Yep, get those tales while you can. I lost my final grandparent earlier this year and learned far more about my family tree at the funeral than I did in the prior time when they were alive. Once that final link vanishes (parents), it's up to you to carry those tales...and it's a good thing for the future generations if you actually have the tales. |
