Hey gang,

Tomorrow at 10:00 EDT I will be running my Star Frontiers adventure I designed for Origins Game Fair this year.  I will post results in this thread so everyone can see how it goes.

Frankly, I did not get as much time as I had hoped to develope this.  There may be a bit seat of the pants GMing going on, but I think it will work out.

More info tomorrow!
Thanks,
Duncan

Good luck, have fun. The reputation of our favorite game hinges on your efforts. No pressure Wink
I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

Hey gang,

Glad to say that Star Frontiers went well at the con.  We had 5 players, and the game was ok.  I made some mechanical mistakes not being used to playing.  The plot needed some work, but I think things went pretty well.  We had 2 vrusk, 2 dralsites, and 1 human in the mix.  I will try and tighten up the module and get it posted somewhere on line in the next few months.  (work allowing.)

Thanks,
Duncan

Way to go vadersson. Maybe we can see something posted in a future StarFrontiersman issue of your game. Did anyone get a picture during your game?

vadersson, I'd really like to see your adventure published in SFman.
Let us know how we can help.
Also, if you run a blog, maybe you could review the print copy of Issue #17?

Duncan runs lots of games at Origins, they are always filled and always fun. Never played in one but I've sat next to his tables. Funny how we Star Frontiers fans pass in the black. lol.

Smile

Had I been smart, I would have come here, read this post, and signed up to play at Origins.
Sadly, I wasn't smart and didn't do any of those things (except go to Origins).

Hm... Gen Con?

Hey, thanks w00t! In some ways, I feel like that's the truest piece of gaming stuff I've ever written for anything--because it was simply an unfiltered e-mail response to a general query from Mike Shea regarding improv, and if I had anything I wanted to say about it. I was on a deadline for a minor WotC product, so I didn't have time to overthink my answers.

Lately I've been feeling like last fall's Star Frontiers game is kind of my happy place in RPGs. Light mechanics, focus on character, have amazing adventures. My players feel this way too. When we return to it, I'm going to do something to tweak the Skilled Frontier rules and make them simpler... unless DWD's Bare Bones stuff is out for sci-fi by then. In that case I'll just let YOU do the work.

I've been (re)playing STUPID amounts of Mass Effect this summer, and it only makes me want to play our mutant, stripped down version of Star Frontiers more and more (and more).

BareBones Fantasy will be out. :-)
We decided to wait for the BB Sci-Fi version until FrontierSpace is published, since that's our flagship product for sci-fi. I playtesting BB Sci-Fi at my Google Hangout Star Frontiers game (that's a mouthfull!) If you'd like to see the system, consider dropping by.

Related to "improv", I'm running a panel (and games) for Indie+ come July. Were still getting setup, maybe you have time to run a panel with me? :-)

Indie+ is an online indie RPG convention to be held in mid-July 2012 on Google+. It is an opportunity of small publishers, bloggers, podcasters to work together and raise the profile of independent gaming. See our page here

Ah! FrontierSpace. Yes, that's what I want to see. I'll inquire further with you about playing via Hangout. I see you're doing one tonight, but--rough day today. I'll get back to you when I have the headspace. Also interested to hear how Steve Winter's event went at that con in Texas.
