TerlObar April 15, 2012 - 10:08pm | Probably should also start a document in the document section once we have some ideas on how to operate. Ad Astra Per Ardua! TerlObar April 16, 2012 - 5:57pm | There is a Cj Williams in the game. I wonder if it is Ascent, but suspect that it isn't. There are a lot of other Cj Williams on facebook. The game Cj Williams has a power of about 17-18,000 and is in an alliance of two that has a total power of about 22,000. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Karxan April 20, 2012 - 10:22pm | So I am almost done with protection mode. I am going to start attacking aliens to get some understanding about combat. I have 14 RS, 2 SY, 1 Research S, 2 SS, 1 TS. I am working on upgrades and will see how things go. Let me know where we should start as an alliance. Also, Is it ok to attack non-alligned people? |
iggy April 21, 2012 - 2:49pm | I'm thinking that we should stick to aliens for the moment. We chose defenders as out alliance type when we created it so I think we should not go around attacking others. Those we attack should earn the privilege of being destroyed. I am going to start building my first fleet now that my player protection is gone. Then I will learn how to fight by attacking an alien. -iggy |
iggy April 21, 2012 - 4:25pm | Let's think of creating a bullet list of our alliance philosophy. I'm thinking that we could use it to make our standard message that we use to invite others to join the alliance. We should also think about how big we want our alliance to get. How big can we properly manage? There are 5 core founders, what does this size too as far as keeping it our alliance and not loosing it to the masses? -iggy |
Karxan April 22, 2012 - 1:05am | I attacked my first alien. The octo. Got my ships wiped out. So I realized I need more ships for an attack anyway. Will build up then go hunting. There are no aliens near by. Do the aliens move/appear in different places? |
jedion357 April 22, 2012 - 4:37am | I attacked my first alien. The octo. Got my ships wiped out. So I realized I need more ships for an attack anyway. Will build up then go hunting. There are no aliens near by. Do the aliens move/appear in different places? I believe there is a daily respawn. BTW damage done to the octo does not heal so you can send waves at him till he dies and the reports from each combat will tell you his remaining strength. My first octo was killed with only a few ships so someone had whittled him down. My second octo I had to send waves at. If you have 100k of silo storage killing an octo or oberist are excellant ideas. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar April 22, 2012 - 7:20am | Anybody know anything about a Veronica Diaz in the game. She currently has a power of 5800 and has clicked to join our alliance and is awaiting acceptance in my alliance window. Ad Astra Per Ardua! jedion357 April 22, 2012 - 11:33am |
Nope, I'd say send her a message and sound her out, tell her who we are and that we're currently a defensive training alliance and will probably go the route of a two tier alliance. As an aside ask her what interested her in us. Anybody know anything about a Veronica Diaz in the game. She currently has a power of 5800 and has clicked to join our alliance and is awaiting acceptance in my alliance window. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar April 22, 2012 - 11:42am | Doesn't matter, she dropped out. Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
iggy April 22, 2012 - 12:05pm | I just gave a star away to a newbe with one RS and a ZC. I then sent my ZC to a near moon to hold for him. However, he moved the RS from the neighboring blue to get the star. I think he needs to lean to trade resources and build. I sent him a few more messages to coach him. The guy's name is Michael Cooper2. We'll see if he catches on because he has sent his ZC in some odd direction. -iggy |
iggy April 22, 2012 - 11:01pm | Michael Cooper2 has requested membership in the alliance. How do we want to vet people we do not personally know? I am wondering if we may offer provisional membership that is tiered or something. In the first month after PP they can be dropped with no reason given. Then some other time limit and limits. Then final full membership. Maybe this is not done by months but buy PL. We aught to send some message to member requests with in 24 or 48 hours so that they don't think we are ignoring them. -iggy |
jedion357 April 23, 2012 - 5:03am | I would say that we just talk to people and take them at face value. If the seem cool then they come it. Tom has to allow them in as alliance owner so either he does the talking or we establish a document listing officers and the can do some of the talking. As for bouncing it goes without saying that people get bounced from alliances, if we discover a problem then those who are officers discuss it and the person gets bounced. Best to have some clear rules though- no attacking any aligned player while in the training alliance, no leeching etc. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
iggy April 24, 2012 - 8:54pm | Hey! Google, "conquest resurgence within". We are number 7! -iggy |
iggy April 25, 2012 - 9:51pm | OK, I have been pondering alliance membership and think that the training alliance should be open. We should take people at face value when they request membership and then give them a set of rules about how the alliance wants to be represented. Then we only boot people that demonstrate the ability to be a consistent jerk. Now membership in the future warriors alliance (I've forgotten the name we were thinking) should be by invite from within Gollwin Academy. Michael Cooper2 has had his request in for Gollwin Academy for several days now. I say we let him in and go from there. He seems to be a player who only plays for a bit every day or so. Check his PL it is quite low. Votes everyone on Michael Cooper2? -iggy |
jedion357 April 26, 2012 - 6:07am | I think you right send a pm to prospective members to sound them out after any halfway intelligible answer they get admitted: I don't think we need a committee vote on it. We could have a standardized contact letter that we copy and paste for ease. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
iggy April 26, 2012 - 7:45am | I was texting with my brother last night and his only concern was that we may some time get an innocent looking player who turns out to be a spy for another alliance. Their goal being that they can then see who all the members are easily and what their PLs are then use that against us in war planing. He suggested creating a short questionnaire to check people out. What to put in that questionnaire I am not sure. BTW, by brother is now on SF.US as Quinn. -iggy |
jedion357 April 26, 2012 - 9:15am | The Sith Empire United have a document on their site explaining that they won't tolerate rogues and spies. It defines a rogue as someone that attack other alliances without the alliance's permission and states that a spy is obvious. It then intimates that these activities will earn you kill on sight status and a massive recycling. Its easy enough to discover the members of an alliance and you can look up their power level in game. The real danger I feel is rogues and that activity is easy enough to handle with diplomacy- many people in game will try diplomacy unless a stat of war already exists. Once we find a rogue we eject them from the alliance then hunt him mercilessly. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
iggy April 26, 2012 - 4:29pm | so we vote the off the island then go hunt them for sport? sounds kinda lord of the flies like to me. or more accurately, island or dr maru. anyway, i don't see michael cooper 2 as any of the above. -iggy |
jedion357 April 27, 2012 - 9:09am | Well if someone is discovered to be a spy or a rogue who attacks other alliances to embroil us in conflict then the deserve to be hunted, but not as sport but as vengeance. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar April 27, 2012 - 10:23am | Okay so some basic rules to pass out to new players. Sound off and make suggestions. 1) This is a non-agressive training alliance. You can fight aliens all you want but not other players. Defense of you're already claimed property being the exception. Violation of this rule gets you ejected from the alliance. 2) We're here to help each other. Feel free to point out and/or hold resources for new players. Also, new players should feel free to ask for help from more advanced alliance players, both for resource locations, tips, and defense of properties. I don't know that there is more to it than that. What else if anything should we say? Ad Astra Per Ardua! jedion357 April 27, 2012 - 3:32pm | I think we can allow attacks on unaligned zombie players. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
TerlObar April 27, 2012 - 3:55pm | How do we decide a player is a zombie? PM and wait how long for a reponse? Should we use a standard PM message? If so what should it be? Ad Astra Per Ardua! My blog - Expanding Frontier Webmaster - The Star Frontiers Network & this site Founding Editor - The Frontier Explorer Magazine Managing Editor - The Star Frontiersman Magazine |
iggy April 27, 2012 - 7:17pm | if we are being generous we give the zombies 7 days before attacking them. i think the message should read, "you are being contacted be the members of gollwin academy to determine if you are an abandoned player account. during the next 7 days if you do not reply and your power level does not change from x the alliance will consider you a zombie and your possessions may be recycled to make room for alliance members." i don't know if power levels of zombies stay static. also we may want to watch the power level for some time first to see if it is static then send the message requesting a response. we might also want to tone this down a bit so as to keep with our non-aggressive alliance. -iggy |
jedion357 April 28, 2012 - 8:48am | Regular in game message and wait 1-3 days. But sometimes you get a clue that someone is a zombie just by observing that they have no apparent activity. For example you spot a system with one each Rs, SY, TRADE, AND RESEARCH station plus one fleet and nothing moves for the entire duration of your player protection- likely a zombie. I've got one sitting on a star that has a power level of four or six and all that's there is a RS- he obviously built the one station and decided the game was not for him I plan on raiding him daily for energy resources and exp for the fleet commander and if I ever need the star I ll recycle him. Not even sure I need to bother with the PM on this guy. Plus that game spawn leech who hasn't answered one PM - that guy is KOS as far as I'm concerned. EDIT: I think seven days is too generous and too long to track shadow said he waited 3 days before dropping it to one. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Shadow Shack July 4, 2012 - 6:31am | Just realize there are some players who, rather than build, simply research. They have low power ratings/low station levels but high techs on their fleet craft. But seven days is more than generous time for an active player to respond to a farming request. Some players only offer 24 hour notices ;) |
Shadow Shack January 17, 2015 - 1:48pm | Is anyone still playing this game? I dropped it for about a year but slowly got back into it recently. |
TerlObar January 17, 2015 - 2:56pm | I'm actually still active although I don't do much except build up my stations and research. I'm #3 on the leaderboard. Ad Astra Per Ardua!
