 November 2, 2011 - 7:12am | Book says, the sathar can speak human, yazirian, and Pan Gal but with a hissing lisp. It explicitly states that their own language has never been translated. You could take that statement as a challenge and write a story where the PC's will resolve this mystery and translate that language. I'm not for this idea. The sathar language being unknown or unknowable adds an air of mystery that I think should be preserved. What I'd like to explore is the look of a sathar script, speech idioms they would use in Pan Gal - in "Bug Hunt" from issue 17. Where the klikk referred to the human and yazirian as prey/slaves or said "shut food consumption oraface". Of course someone else interested in a sathar language could explore that but I think a sample script and speech pattern idioms would be useful and not really change the canon idea that the language is unknown. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
