jedion357 September 28, 2011 - 10:39am | Thread Advisory: This is going to sound Star Trek-ish, or worse. Orginial Reference is here: http://io9.com/5784971/how-to-create-a-scientifically-plausible-alien-life-form Look for the Gray box toward the bottum that has the title "Weirder Possibilities" Supposition is that there are four kinds of force: Electromagnetic force, Strong Force, Weak Force and Gravity Life on earth depends on electromagnetic force but what about the others In particular the STrong Force- What was postulate was that you might be able to have Chromodynamic/Neuclear Life in a Neutron STar where the environment would be super dense mantles and seas of primordial neutron soup might give rise to? So.... we can now postulate/ imagine weird life on neutron star, Now What? Could it be intelligent? Could we talk with it? Barring talk, could we interact with it? What would this sort of life do for us on a setting and game level? Is it of any value more than a Ripely's Believe it Or Not story? Personally I think the answers are all no and not but someone else might have an idea I didn't think of. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
bossmoss October 16, 2012 - 11:46am | The novels Dragon's Egg and Starquake dealt with a technological species that lived on a neutron star. It was pretty good hard science. They were the size & shape of sesame seeds, and experienced time at a faster rate. The books were adapted into an episode of Star Trek Voyager, where they were humans with bumps on the forehead, of course. |
