Shadow Shack September 27, 2011 - 10:19am | Looks a little front-heavy... |
thespiritcoyote September 28, 2011 - 12:48am | I second that understatement... Just because... INITIAL VISUAL ASSESSMENT TO RULE CONVERSIONS: Factory Stock: -20% Wep Acc, +4% critical misfire, encumbering uncomfortable bulky design reduces firing stamina over time (variable), ~47.6oz w/o ~23.8oz battery pack (total ~71.4oz), Overall design and durability can handle multiple extreme environments over a short period without severe reduction in capability, and is fairly easy on field maintenance. [but steep on replacements of circuit-board parts many of which are not easily available in the field, expect a dedicated 2kg field-repair pack which includes a diagnostics port, a calibrator-comp, a pair of multi-tools, and two replacements of all critical electronic parts.] Post-factory Refits: light-weight materials (+5% @ 1/2 Wt., and firing-fatigue cumulative multiplier reduced one step), ergonomic grip-casing (+10%, and first ~10sec of combat tensed grip retains firing-stamina), a rear mounted weight-balanced targeting panel+scope (+10%), weight-balanced electro-mag gyro-stabalizer mounted above the grip's center-point (+5%), these should off-set the accuracy reductions and overall firing-fatigue, and possibly double the weight... the reliability factor just needs* a few uncommon third-party internal refits... Shadow Shack September 28, 2011 - 1:01am | Is that scientific mumbo jumbo for "there's more stuff in front of the trigger than behind it"? |
thespiritcoyote September 28, 2011 - 1:44am | scientific? thought weaponology was more of an art... Just giving it a star-frontiers version of the Jane's Weekly quick-note... simplifying a lot, it means... Unwieldy, unwieldy, unwieldy, and... cumbersome. But still cool enough to make a stat-out on it. Interesting tho' the schematics show that there is more stuff in front of the trigger than behind it... infact several computer processors, and more electronics than in the average cell-phone... wonder how hard it would be to set a few up on sentry duty? Oh humans!! jedion357 September 28, 2011 - 3:05am | What im thinking about is 8 AA s and relating it to the game. What it sounds like to me is a micro disk not a 20SEU clip. It will require a power clip, and an ammo clip. Upside is its quiet. Downside is its a heavy bulky pistol. Rifle version might be a better weapon. Anyone notice that it looks like a Boon sha's multi-pistol? I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
iggy September 28, 2011 - 2:02pm | no, use an seu clip and give it high velocity and great range. built in star frontiers tech it would be smaller circuitry so expect it to look more balanced and normal in future tech. as an electrical engineer i notice that this is all built with off the shelf parts. that in its self makes it big. lot me make this in high volume with custom parts and we would shrink it down to half the size. on the ammunition note i see 2 to 3 x cost for the slugs because they are steel not lead. -iggy |
TerlObar September 28, 2011 - 4:43pm | This is the forerunner of the needler weapons. They operate on the same principle. Ad Astra Per Ardua! iggy September 28, 2011 - 10:20pm | Good point Terl! This also implies that there could be heavy needlers. These would be larger caliber, slower rate of fire. -iggy |
jedion357 September 29, 2011 - 3:34am | Or disk shaped flechetes that would be less likely to punch a hole in a starships hull but just as deadly for bio-forms- specifically designed for boarding actions- has a short range cone effect like a shot gun (use the burst fire rules for simplicity). or a fully automatic guass rifle chucking slugs- use burst fire rules again.
