Star Fleet Space Guard Command

With growing tensions near both the Romulan and Klingon Neautral Zones in the 2260's Star Fleet Command Mandiated the creation of a new Command Division to oversee Support and Local System Defense Operations while the Ships Of The Line were tasked with priority missions. This new division called the Space Guard was developed based on a model emulating the United States' Maritime Coast Guard of the 21st Century.

The Primary Mission Of The Star Fleet Space Guard is
1. Perimeter Response & Defense
2. Local System Defense
3. Search & Rescue
4. Support Operations & Logistical Support
5. Piracy Interdiction & Law Enforcement Of UFP Member Worlds

To Accomplish This Mandate several older Starship Classes were recently refitted and recommissioned to serve in the Star Fleet Space Guard Command.
