Population: Light-The planet has only a few small cities. Mod-The planet has several large cities and numerous small cities. Heavy- The planet has numerous large cities and hundreds of smaller cities. Individual cities may be considered "maxi-cities" that cover thousands of square kilometers. Trade: A=Agriculture, I=industrial, R=Resource Mining Stations: ASS=Armed Space Station, TS= Trading Station: These "Malls in space" are usually found in very secure space sectors. They are restricted by UPF law to sell only those it4ms not produced on the planet they orbit. Trading stations also have facilites for restocking spacestations. Moons: C=Colonization Planetary Footnotes From AD: Terledrom is ruled by a council of vrusk companies and elected dralasites. The companies control all the trade with other planets, and consider smuggling a serious crime. The planet has rings that are visible from the ground during the day. Zik-kit has very rich mining deposits. These are exported mainly to Terledrom for manufacturing. Zik-kit is controlled as a colony by the Terledrom government. Planetary Footnotes From Zebs: Terledrom- Trans-Travel is a planetary corporation and the chief employer of Terledrom. its headquarters are based in Sengsen, the major city. Militia Ships Terledrom: 3 assault scouts & 1 frigate Zik-kit: 2 assault scouts I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 March 11, 2011 - 12:45am | Basic observations: 1. The vrusk seem to be running the show as per the golden rule, and the Zik-Kit colony is vrusk only and controled from Terledrom. This was the reason I opted to make Terledrom the vrusk homeworld in my timeline article plus I remember seeing a comment somewhere that a vrusk mining outpost discovered the dralasites but I cant find that tidbit now. 2. Since Zik-Kit is controlled from Terledrom I would assume that the militia organizations in both systems are the same organization. This would mean that the Fromeltar militia ties the Theseus militia in number of hulls (6 each, though Theseus has a DD). Factor in their heavy bent against smuggling and the need to police 2 systems and its understandable that this militia would be big. The vrusk approach, as seen in the Dark Side of the Moon module, would suggest that originally the militia was one vrusk trade house, tasked with system security. Some changes would have to come into play to accomodate dralasites later on. 3. Terledrom would be a very beautiful place with its rings visible during the day. I would expect that there would be an Ansel Adams equivelant in their society that produced artwork capturing the beauty of the planet and system. Likely there is some form of artist community. 4. Terledrom is a Hvy population planet and the notes on what a heavy population means suggest that this planet should have one of the "maxi-cities" built principly by the vrusk; sort of a modern hive analog maybe. Since Sengsen is mentioned in the Zebs footnote that is a good candidate. It would be the seat of government, a major seat of learning with numerous universities, Trans-Travel's headquarters, industry and trade. 5. yet another inconsistency from Zebs rears its ugly head- Zebs headquarters Trans-Travel on Terledrom and says that its run by a council of Yazirians who's identies are not commonly known. Either we make them vrusk or move TT to yazirian space or delete the mega corp altogether. I perfer to simply make them vrusk as GODco is the big boy mega corp in yazirian space. 6. The note on Trade Stations says they are in the most secure areas which is odd as both Fromeltar and Kizk-Kar have separate sathar start circles leading to them. Thus I'd expect that Space Fleet would station one of those numerous patrol groups that are mentioned as existing besides the listed fleets from the campaign game. At the very least it would be a frigate and 2 assault scouts but possibly one that included a crusier. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 March 11, 2011 - 1:01am | If the premise that Fromeltar was the home system of the vrusk is accepted (and it is not guarrenteed that it is) then I'd expect that the vrusk represent the basic evolutionary template for critters on Terledrom. 10 limbs, internal and external skeleton, similar method of birth, compound eyes, high speed, high dex., stages of growth- larva or grub, pupae to adult., insectoid. Concerning Groth- the nagana race was detailed in one of the early SFman's, basically half snake and half man, very fantasy escapee-ish IMO but still the write up on it is interesting enough- if the race was re-cast as a "primitive" native to groth and make more snake or eel like ie the artwork looked more like a snake or moray eel but with stubby fins that had a spine running down the leading edge of the fin so that it could use that spine to depress a button- giving it the limited ability to interact with technology but leaving it a NPC race this could work. I also think that there would be a reason that vrusk have not colonized Groth- it is essentially a water world and due to the placement of their lungs living on a water world is problematic. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
Deryn_Rys March 11, 2011 - 10:09am | While we do not consider it canon WOTC's d20 Future write up for Star Frontier's core 4 mentioned Fromeltar as the homeworld of the Dralasites, not the Vrusk. I posted WOTC's homeworlds for the core three a while ago for discussion here.... Refer to http://www.starfrontiers.us/node/4396 "Hey guys I wonder what this does"-Famous last words "Hey guys, I think it's friendly." -Famous last words "You go on ahead, I'll catch up." -Famous last words "Did you here that?" -Famous last words |
Deryn_Rys March 11, 2011 - 11:40am | Of course you know I'm just messing with Jedion who is very vocal in his disdane for WOTC's half-assed attempt to squeeze Star Frontiers into D20 Future. As far as I'm concerned There hasn't been a canon Star Frontiers book since TSR closed the doors on the Frontier. Star Frontiers now belongs to us! Bwaahhhaaahhhaaa! As far as I'm concerned There hasn't been a canon Star Frontiers book since TSR closed the doors on the Frontier. Star Frontiers now belongs to us! Bwaahhhaaahhhaaa! I dont think I've been that vocal I just dont like d20 and thats from giving it a try, I still play D&D 4.0 and even 3.5 and just got roped into working up a character for an Ad&D game that suppose to happen bi-monthly on Saturdays. I just think that AD mechanic an "Skilled Frontier" skill system or HARP is a better character generation system. leveling stinks IMO. Unfortunately D&D and D20 is the 800 lbs gorillia in the room. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
jedion357 March 13, 2011 - 8:12pm | I'm wondering about the armed space stations. Terledrom's government seems to build them everywhere; Terledrom, Groth, and Zik-kit The events of the 1st sathar war did not dictate the need for them and they were obviously built before the 2nd sathar war. Why? 1. could be the vrusk are paranoid 2. they really take smuggling serious like the footnote says and the stations are a statement of that. probably support squadrons of fighters on all of them. 3. they are next door to Dramune and namely Outer Reach which is a haven for pirates and the most famous pirate from there had a vrusk sounding name Hatzk Nar. Perhaps Hatzk Nar had an axe to grind with his fellow vrusk or with vrusk authority 4. Sathar incursions- from the map of the KH's campaign game there are two separate sathar start circles going to each of the systems involved. This suggest that the 2 sathar start circles are 2 separate systems and behind then is another system linking to them. 5. Some other reason? As to the Trade station over Zik-Kit that seems a bit proactive on their part to facilitate their economic activities in a system that is in the back of beyond of the on the Frontier map. Perhaps its just to facilitate their dealo of exploiting the resources of Zik-kit for Terledrom's benefit and naturally exporting industrial goods to the colony. A TS in Cassidine makes sense, the one over Hentz makes sense as it keeps non yazirians off the planet, Over Inner Reach makes sense, Madderly's Star, Prenglar, and Truane's Star. i can even see the point of the TS in solar minor, sort of. Perhaps the Vrusk belt is a popular star liner route moving between White Light and Dramune along the dust clouds hitting all the vrusk systems. thus the TS is just one stop for the liner that brings in credits to the Zik-kit economy. I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers! |
