The module strongly hints to the GM to have the Fat Fraggard escape in the end of the module and for you to keep track of the pirate ships that get away.

So the big credit question is where would the Malthar escape too?

Someplace with confused or loose authority- like Zebulon

What would be the story for a DR2; a Zebulon Run, if you will
or Rim Run or whatever you like?

He's out there, without space ware but still plotting and scheming and he holds grudges forever

I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Well, you know where the Sarcastic Slug is in my game: Volturnus. He's your boss in that game Wink

What isn't known is the backstory to that game. I have the Malthar seek refuge in a neighboring uninhabited system (neighboring Dramune that is), where he is able to rebuild his criminal empire in solitude.

I'm not overly fond of Zeb's Guide...nor do I have any qualms stating why. Tongue out

How does he keep the minions at bay?

Minions follow a fat slug because they don't have much brains. That's why they're minions to begin with. So, yeah, they aren't likely to rise up. They don't have the brains.

I think the idea was for Referees to have a villain for their campaign or to replace Malthar with their own established campaign villain. However, it would be nice to see another Malthar adventure.

By the way, Malthar still controls a vast network and likely did not lose his influence over the government of Outer Reach. Malthar is the cog that keeps the pirates slogging along in that sector, so they need him as well. He's not likely to just up and leave. No, he would reassert himself in some new way in the area, perhaps producing some expansion project that is convenient for him to influence Outer Reach from an asteroid or something. Malthar is dug in like the tick he is. It won't be that easy to get rid of him. Pull the body from the head and the head just burrows in deeper. It would require digging him out and searing the wound. Then treating for the disease that spreads.

I think that if Malthar could not return to Outer Reach, he would most likely become a Pirate, commanding his own ragtag fleet.

By keeping them at each other's throats. That's how Palpatine managed to control the different factions and servants working for him.

As for who would follow a failed leader...well, Baby Doc Duvalier recently made a return trip to Haiti, and way too many of his former supporters welcomed him with open arms, as he set up court at a hotel in Port au Prince.

Let him not breed in great numbers, for he will make a desert of his home and yours. Shun him; drive him back into his jungle lair, for he is the harbinger of death."
