Mass combat rules

I've been reading a lot of the stuff that's been written about ship combat in KH, and it occured to me that one area that seems not to be spoken about is large scale fleet battles. I was wondering if anyone ever considered making rules for KF and for that matter AD that would be like the Battle system that TSR had for D&D and AD&D back in the day, thus allowing for large scale land and spacefleet engagement.

I could see something like it for alpha dawn, but for KH, I don't think its needed.I am going to look for my 2nd Ed Battlesystem as food for thought.
The bombing starts in five minutes.

a couple of years ago I chatted with a guy about the differences and strengths of KHs vs Full Thrust from Ground Zero Games- his opinion was that big battles in SF aught to be played with basic game rules and no repairing of ships during combat.

He also stated that he and some friends had run a refight of a WW2 naval battle with KWs and the game had taken the whole day, they just substituted ships on a class by class basis from history to KHs
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

I get the feeling from the order of battle descriptions in KH that there just aren't any massive fleets to really get into it with. Starships seem to not only be expensive in KH terms but also have a certain rare-ity to them. At least in comparison to Fleet compliments in such game universes as Star Wars and Star trek where a fleet could be quite large indeed. I suppose if you gathered several of the UPF task forces and added several planetary millitias you might be able to get a decent fleet together but it would take quite a bit of time to assemble and coordinate such a large confab. Most common battle groups I am reading about usually consist of a single destroyer or frigate and a couple/three assault scouts. I admit I am finding it very refreshing to see a setting where the sky is not full of ships zipping around.

I have been developing a supplement called Delta Dawn for a while that includes mass combat rules for both space and groundside combat. I just recently made some headway on it. It's still going to be a while yet before it's done. I would be glad to see what anyone else contributes.
