Deryn_Rys November 28, 2010 - 10:17am | What if there's something in a Yazirian's body chemistry that makes them immune to the creature, but only if the yaz doesn't battle rage. Can the sole yaz crewman keep his cool while all hell breaks loose around him, long enough for the medics to figure out how to synthesize an antidote for the rest of their crew. w00t (not verified) November 28, 2010 - 10:57am | Interesting idea. I don't know how chemistry would effect the metalist type powers of this creature. This could be an adventure for a metalist type, that can shield himself or the party (within a certain range). Or we could introduce gear that blocks the imprint. PsychShield This special helmet when worn protects against mental powers at level 2. Cost: 5,000 CR Mass: 1kg PsychSuit This special suit when worn protects against mental powers giving the wearer a +25% WIL check. This suit cannot be worn with other protective suits. Cost: 15,000 CR Mass: 1kg |
Deryn_Rys November 28, 2010 - 11:03am | Assuming that the creature's mentalist powers are biological in nature, the Yaz antidote could be fitted into a modified stimdose injector and while the mentalist in the party keeps it occupied someone could try to inject it, rendering its psionics temporarilly negated, just long enough to freeze it for Wartech's bio weapons devision. w00t (not verified) November 28, 2010 - 9:36pm | Excellent suggestion. Are the imprint powers nullified while the creature is in a freeze field? |
Deryn_Rys November 28, 2010 - 10:04pm | It would be interesting if they weren't, which would have the players wondering if there was something else going on, since they would assume that they neutralized the threat already. If done right the paranoia that something else was at work would rachet up the suspense of the mission. w00t (not verified) November 28, 2010 - 11:02pm | I agree. What if on the trip back to civilized space one of the freeze fields failed. The crew starts exhibiting violent behaviour. Will they find the cause before its too late? |
Deryn_Rys November 28, 2010 - 11:50pm | Or maybe someone in the crew is really working for "them" and the sabotage is really part of a test with the crew being unwitting test subjects. After all being confined on a ship in deep space is the best way to test a hostile life form without endangering the local populace. Kind of like Alien with psionics.
