Anonymous September 19, 2010 - 6:24pm | Hi all! While TerlOBar is working on the edits for Issue 15 I've been working on the submission side of the StarFrontiersman.com website. In a nutshell; When you submit, instead of going to the submissions email box it creates a private post on the site, (only staff members are able to see the post). I then edit the submission and mark which Issue it should appear in, the Heading type (Archetype, Locations, Equipment, etc.) and the approximate Page length. Next, the Line Editor's can add a comment to each submission for discussion purposes or to notify the Editor of something important about the article (such as needs art) or email the author in case there are questions. After the article is added to the standard SFman layout it is uploaded and the submission post and marked "Edited". Now it's ready to be put in the final layout. NOTE: If the Author updates his article he can email the submissions email box found on the same page. After I get all the submissions uploaded (from the email box to the site) I'll be working on Issue 16. Ya, that's right. I know, I rule. |
Gargoyle2k7 September 19, 2010 - 9:55pm | Good to know; I know I had some multiple updates on a couple of the articles I sent in. Can't wait to see issue 15 and beyond! Long live the Frontier! |
w00t (not verified) September 19, 2010 - 11:24pm | I just sent an email to all the submitter's. Hopefully it makes sense. ....must get to bed! |
w00t (not verified) September 19, 2010 - 11:26pm | Anyone have Daron Patton email address or sf.us username? |
w00t (not verified) September 19, 2010 - 11:30pm | Errr. to be more specific; "An Alien's Best Friend" Pets for Star Frontiers Original ideas by Daron Patton xxxxxxx@netscape.net Not all creatures in the universe are put there to make adventurers feelscared or studly. Not all creatures arethere to put food on our tables. Animals that just make us feel good arecommon to all Earth civilizations, past andpresent. I don't see why the Frontier aliens should be any differently, and Daron Patton seems to share this feeling. |
Gargoyle2k7 September 20, 2010 - 7:10pm | I was thinking of a similar article; glad Daron got to it first! Long live the Frontier! |
w00t (not verified) October 8, 2010 - 10:33pm | Hi all, Just wanted to make a short announcement for those interested in the behind the scenes of the magazine and other news. We have six people on staff. Not all of them are "active" but any little bit helps. I have emailed instructions on how to access the submission queue and the responsibility each staff member has (all of us are line editors, some of us are both line and layout editors and I'm the editor.) We are moving forward slowly with Issue 16 (just got done with 15 and need a breather!). There are 48 people signed up for the Star Frontiersman Announcement list. Please spread the word about the list. I'm thinking about adding the members of this site that have logged in within the last two months to the list. They can always opt-out. (thank you iggy for the idea) I think that's it for now. :-) |
