Ok I've caught Woot's hints so Starting May 14 or 21st at 8pm eastern I will be running a game in the game room (this site) using skype to speed play (for slow typers). The campaign is mapped out for 6 or more encounters- this will likely run for about 2 months. The encounters should play out in one night. Each encounters are intended to be compartmentalized in case a player misses one week so that it will not derail the game.

Rules: AD and KHs and "Spacer Skills Revisited" from Sfman issue 10. (this means you can have a PC start with spacer skills)

Creating Player characters: Any race: AD or Zebs Roll for ability scores and check the Ability Score Table for the result; then arrange in the order you like for the 4 ability pairs. After that apply your racial modifiers.

Choose a level 2 skill and choose 2 level 1 skills (total: 3 skill in all), PSA is the area the level 2 skill is from. (for simplicity we’re using AD style of PSA and skills) Consider using an archetype from the SFman Note: “Spacer Skills Revisited” article from SFman 10 is house rules so a level one star ship skill is possible for this game. (Some possibility of star ship skills playing a part)

Spend your 2500 cr (500 cr starting money and 2000cr signing bonus) 1 Free tool kit, a military tool kit is a skein suit (civilian or military). Standard equipment list is readily available in Port Loren. Unique items from other sources (Zebs or SFman) could be found but either require a bit of role play, out right referee approval, or will turn up in the course of the adventure.

Then head out to the star port in Port Loren to board the Stellar Dawn tramp freighter for Devco. The characters will be part of a trouble shooting security team hired by the CDC to assist on Devco in the aftermath of the Blue Plague. Thus failure to show up for a gaming session wont sink a game or penalize you- we’ll just assume your character is on another assignment or taking some leave time or etc.

What You Need To Do:

1. join Friday Night Frontier in the game room

2. submit a character

3. download the freeversion of Skype and send the referee (me) your skype handle.

4. Show up on Friday May 14th, 8 pm eastern
I might not be a dralasite, vrusk or yazirian but I do play one in Star Frontiers!

Next Game: May 14th about 8pm EST

* One of the following games will run *

Security Trouble Shooters Needed 2,000 credit signing bonus, Contact CDC offices for details
If you would to play please contact the Referee

Gateway Enterprise is in the business of starship loans. Although they do their best to certify their loans sometimes they get a bad apple. In this case Minsk Movers has not paid their loan in six months. It’s a simple job, travel to the ships current location and retrieve the ship. Then pilot it back to Gateway’s docking port. If you would to play please contact the Referee

Friday Night Frontier game background

The CDC is hiring trouble shooters- there has been some unrest amoung the refugees on Cass in the Devco system; from minor riots to sabotage. They're paying a 2000 cr signing bonus so it tempting to take the job.

GODco is present with some donated terraforming equipment, offering their expertise gratis to help the plight of the poor refugees (and pay back CDC for their part in underwriting their start up as a mega corp).

The trip to Devco takes a few weeks and 3 jumps on the Stellar Dawn tramp freighter, the ship is carrying supplies and its crew largely keeps to itself and stays busy with the ships operations. You've stored your weapons in the arms locker and the bulk of your gear in sealed foot lockers in the cargo hold, your quarters are cramped and there is no room for you pluss gear that doesn't fit in your pocket. You could have worn your skein shuit (if you have one) the whole trip but if you did, it was uncomfortable and you have a -5% penalty applied by the GM one time at his whim till your character shakes out the kinks.

With 60 minutes till orbit, the captain  summons the CDC new security hires to the bridge ASAP!
A CDC security officer is on the videocom:

"Good, your here. No time for pleasentries, we've got a riot going in the shanty town and all securty teams responding, and now there is a report of sabotage of the heavy duty robots on a road building crew. This is the third attack on the terraforming robots and without them we wont have the power to drive this world to prosperity. The captain has agreed to set his shuttle down close enough for you to get to the automated road building bots. Secure the robots, prevent further damage and attempt to capture the saboteurs, out."

You have 6 turns till the shuttle should undock from the Stellar traveller what would you like to do with that time?

travel time to anywhere on the ship is 1 turn, obtaining your weapons from the security locker is 1 turn, finding your foot locker in the cargo hold is a random event, getting the crew (and helping them to do it) to load the explorer into the shuttle is 4 turns. Depending on what you'd like to do I may count travel and your action as 1 turn example travel to the security locker and wait for the 1st officer to find his key and open it is one turn. or recovering something from your cabin 1 turn. Bartering with the engineer for his laser power torch 1 turn depending on a PER roll and what you offer him in compensation ($).

get your character together and show up Friday night @ 8pm Eastern

May 14 update:

Team: GOK (by woot) and Boston (NPC driver/medic)

Having taken the 2000credit signing bonus the team arrived in the backwater waste hole known as Cass of the Devco system. They were not to get to settle in as a riot was in progress in the shanty town staged by plague survivors. There was also yet a third incident in progress of an attack on a automated road building robotic crew.

With only 1hr for the Stellar Dawn to decelerate to orbit the team recovered their weapons fromt he weapons locker and assisted the crew in loading the new explorer onto the freighter's shuttle. Gok spent his last 10 minutes in a "might as well Look" search of the cargo hold for his foot locker with the bulk of his personal equipment and found it.

The ship's captain agreed to land the shuttle .5 km from the attack in progress on the automated road crew. With Boston driving, they halted 250m to observe 2 humans and a dral shooting up at a fleeing robot and spotted a "hot" hovercycle in IR. Flooring the excellerator at the Boston drove straight at them and they wasted one round firing at the explorer with small arms then tried to flee on the overloaded hovercycle. Even overloaded it was still faster then the explorer by the rought terrain lead to a bad control conditions and one rider fell off.

Knowing that they'd never catch the hovercycle, the team turned and ran down the fallen rider with Gok jumping from the moving explorer and slamming the human into the ground (double PS for damage) and disarming him. Dispite the being disarmed and out gunned the human attempted to land one last punch on Gok but a live sonic sword settled him down eventually. The prisoner was taken aboard the explorer  and restrained.

Aftermath and next Friday's set up:
The team learned that:
a home grown and not to well organized cadre has sprung up among some plague survivors that is angry over the lack of jobs and ability for survivors to make a living; sure food is given and better housing is promised (as soon as more robotic assets can be diverted to finish the new archology towers), and they have free medical treatment from the MSO teams but they desire to obtain prosperity from their own efforts not from a hand out.

The prisoner was interegated under telol, there may have been some violation of his civil liberties in the process but CDC is running the show and the security director, the team's boss, authorized it.

Several cadre members have been rounded up. An important member of the anti robot cadre is still missing and believed to be hiding in the shanty town. it looks like Gok's team will catch the assignment to track him down.

Nollo the CDC administrator had directed that all attacks on robots must be halted lest the prosperity of the system be put at jepordy. Hal the robotic brain that directs all services and terraforming progects offered to explore the possibility of producing some extra security bots to assist the overworked biological security teams.

EXP: Gok 2 for securing company assets and preventing further destruction, +1 exp for capturing a an antagonist without firing a shot. Total exp award: 3.

I can't speak for everyone, but I have the time slotted on my calendar with a reminder set up, so no email needed. The 'need more mental note paper' was simply my idea of a joke. Probably should have used a smiley. Anywho, no apparent conflicts for the 21st. I hope it stays that way.

Ok georgie I added you as a player, I guess you just create a character on this site and let me know who it is and then I re edit the page and slot him in.

You can go any direction with the character you want and Spacer Skills Revisited from SFman 10 is house rules so as per the front page of the game in the game room you can have a player with a lvl 1 KH skill. welcome aboard.

Thanks jedi. We'll have to save it for another night though. I was reminded just today of a play my daughter wants to see that stars her soccer teammate. Don't worry, I'll make one of these games nights soon!

I'm planning to run one- I've just survived a 4 yr old's birthday, company staying over and all the expenses of enteratining- I find myself breathing easier this morning and looking forward to playing.

keying up chapter 2 of the adventure on Devco.

Georgie has a slot in FFF game but no character yet anyone else want in-just pm me- even if you cant show every Friday I'm working to keep this to simple encounters that can be wrapped up in a session and just award 1-3 exp. If your a no show for a few weeks you just miss out on a little exp and we assume your character was off doing something else.
