Will November 30, 2008 - 4:26pm | I like Reflexes. Reminds you of Cyberpunk, eh, choombatta? "You're everything that's base in humanity," Cochrane continued. "Drawing up strict, senseless rules for the sole reason of putting you at the top and excluding anyone you say doesn't belong or fit in, for no other reason than just because you say so." —Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stephens, Federation |
Colt45 December 1, 2008 - 5:10am | what is the difference between dexterity and reflexes? same as star frontiers? DEX/RS (insert sarcastic comeback here) |
SmootRK December 1, 2008 - 8:29am | I always considered the first to be more physical in nature... the ability akin to gymnist or acrobat. The secondary side is more akin to reflexes and manual dexterity... the gunfighter's quick-draw, or the sleight of hand stuff of a rogueish person.... but that is just my take. Bill may have written the new definitions differently in the latest incarnation. <insert witty comment here> |
blath December 1, 2008 - 8:59am | I'm okay with either reactions or reflexes. (actually I'm pretty open to any name). :) I was wondering if the latter in regards to muscle memory, whether it be directly connect or be a result of some sort of attribute + experience + skill + penalty for constant upkeep or what ever formula not be to fixed. Something that a character could work on or re-work on based on injury or practice or perhaps a even be sub grouped (maybe not to fragmented so as not to bog the game down) by a few parts. |
CleanCutRogue December 1, 2008 - 10:56am | In SF, Dexterity is pretty much used for most things having to do with fine or gross motor skill (that is, it serves as agility, grace, balance, flexability, aim, hand-eye coordination, etc.) except in regards to speed. For some reason Star Frontiers separated out Reaction Speed to refer to a combination of quick-wittedness and muscle response time. I'm more in favor of a gross vs. fine motor skill separation (that is, Agility versus Coordination) but in keeping with the game that is the inspiration for our new game, I thought keeping in line with their separation made most sense. Wow, I read that three times and still can't think of a better way to explain myself. Hopefully that made sense. 3. We wear sungoggles during the day. Not because the sun affects our
vision, but when you're cool like us the sun shines all the time. |
TerlObar December 1, 2008 - 11:21am | It made sense to me. I'd probably prefer your distinction as well. Ad Astra Per Ardua!
