umungus September 25, 2008 - 7:26am | What do you guys think about posting the Star Frontiersman on Drivethru RPG or RPG now. Post it for free. It would get more exposure that way and get more interest in Star Frontiers. At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
TerlObar September 25, 2008 - 8:07am | I'm trying to get a hold of Bill to get it onto the magazine's website. Once we do that we should post announcements everywhere to have people come get it. If we can't get a hold of Bill in the next week or so then we should just post announcements pointing to where it is now. I've never been on those sites but I assume we can post something to the effect of "Issue 9 is out, go here to get it". I'd like to keep the number actual download locations farily small and preferably within our control so we can see how many actual downloads there are. To date, from my site where I've posted it, there have been 117 hits on the zip file, some of which are probably search engines, but that's still a decent number for less than a week. umungus September 25, 2008 - 10:40am | I hear you about keeping control of download locations. Maybe just posting in other RPG discussion groups would do it. I am trying to come up with ideas to generate more interest. There just doesn't seem to be much activity here. Was ROTWANG going to do a review of the Star Frontiersman issues? At least I got to scare an alien rabbit thingy...... |
TerlObar September 25, 2008 - 10:49am | I have no idea on the review. I want to generate more interest as well. And while I'd love to drive traffic to my site where the issue is now posted, I want to hold off just a bit to try to get the issue on to its home site. If I haven't heard from Bill by the middle of next week, I say we open the flood gates and post announcements everywhere we can think of. In the announcement we can link to the announcement thread here as well as directly to the download page. Ad Astra Per Ardua! Shadow Shack September 29, 2008 - 3:44am | If we can't get a hold of Bill in the next week or so then we should just post announcements pointing to where it is now. Oops...already did that LOL I posted a "check it out" at the SF.org forum and at Dragonsfoot.com (1 & 2e D&D/AD&D forum) as there's a good handful of SF fans there. |

Corvus October 7, 2008 - 8:09pm | Nice to know you're still alive, Larry. If you could tell us something about Bill it would be much appreciated. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
w00t (not verified) October 7, 2008 - 8:24pm | Nice to know you're still alive, Larry. If you could tell us something about Bill it would be much appreciated. I have not heard from him until today when I sent an email to his phone requesting full access to fix the site. My suspicion is his job is keeping him from hobbies. |
Corvus October 8, 2008 - 12:36am | I have not heard from him until today when I sent an email to his phone requesting full access to fix the site. My suspicion is his job is keeping him from hobbies. Understandable. However, it doesn't take more than a few minutes at the end of the day for him to at least let us know he's alive. I, at least, have been quite concerned about him and his family. He doesn't have to make a big speech or anything, but it would be very nice if he would pop in and just let us know he's still alive and intact. Like it or not he's still the keystone of this whole thing, and though I have pulled back from participating, he's still my friend. I'd like to hear from him that he's okay. And if there's anything he needs, I'm sure most of us would want to help out if we could. If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. -- Carl Sagan |
